wow, I'll be honest reading the title and first post I thought he was a goner, you clearly know a good vet! So good to see a happy story

I'm still worried about the discharge but there's less of it (used to be droplets oozing out when he closed his eyes) so I guess a few more days of antibiotics should clear it up. I'm honestly not sure how much of it is discharge and how much of it is drops of antibiotics and probiotics he smeared on himself while cleaning his beak after I feed it to him. I can't wait to get rid of those pin feathers. I'm not with him currently but I'll be going back tomorrow night. He should only have 2 or 3 days of antibiotics to go.

Oh by the way his poops are much less runny today.

Thank you! Haha he was alert but not quite happy, I handfeed him a bit after antibiotics to get the taste out and I gave him a pellet instead of fruit. He stared at me like "really?" and threw it away. This is the only picture I was able to take where he doesn't look hostile.

I just got back. He was very loud all day (according to my family) and his behavior is very normal. He's sleeping further away from the heat lamp and he isn't puffed up at all. He's really acrobatic today, even hanging upside down by one leg. Poop looks better than it ever has since he got sick.

However I got very scared when I saw his head gently vibrating a few times, kind of like shivering but only his head. I looked up neurological symptoms in birds, particularly tremors, and they don't look like this though if anyone has some videos I would really appreciate them...Ever since I got him he's liked to rapidly wiggle his tongue, sometimes while making a purring sound, which would make his beak and head vibrate but I couldn't see his beak from that angle. He completely stopped once he became distracted by a toy and some treats so I'm not sure if that was the tongue thing or not. I'll keep an eye on him.

conures are very bouncy birds and often bob their heads rapidly when happy and excitable. I think the only other birds that bouncy and bob their heads more than conures are Lorikeets and Caiques.

A seizure you would know if it happens, they're not pleasant

It was a very gentle and almost imperceptible kind of vibration, like the way their chest feathers vibrate if you look closely when they're excited. He was doing plenty of the bouncing and bobbing too so I do think he was happy at the moment, but when the vibrating happened he wasn't moving his neck at all, just standing still with his head vibrating. I checked on him and he wasn't doing it anymore so I'm trying not to worry!

Bad news. Poop is very bubbly and has been since last night.

Looks like we'll have to take another trip to the vet. Other than this he's still 100% asymptomatic including the discharge so this must be another infection that the antibiotics had no effect on. I just want this all to be over.

Oh, no. He's lucky you're so on top of things with his symptoms.I hope this turns out to just be a minor setback rather than a sign of anything more serious.

Thank you. I refused a blood and fecal test because he was asymptomatic and I didn't want to stress him out in case he relapsed. I really regret leaving those stones unturned.

It's too late to bring him to the vet now but I did talk to him on the phone and he said it's possible it's a gut flora issue since this can happen after antibiotic treatments, and I stopped the probiotics the second I stopped the antibiotics. I don't know why I did. However I looked closely and it looked like there was some mucus in the poop as well. The urates also look webby. I feel so bad for him.

Ok, I've been giving him probiotics since yesterday and as of noon today they've helped a LOT. Only one or two bubbles per poop now and the urates have a much better shape. Less mucus but it's still present. Has anyone seen weird poops after antibiotics like this?

It's been about a week, how's he doing?

100% asymptomatic and poop is normal now. I'll keep giving probiotics for another week and soon I'll get a fecal test and blood panel to check for any residual problems. He's also been switched back onto pellets after being on a 40% seed diet for the duration of his illness to encourage his appetite, I owe that to Nutri-berries.
