Thought I would share some recent videos/pics of cheddar. He cracks me up sometimes.

After his bath, he slept for like 4 hours. He actually worried me, he wouldn't perch and just slept wherever I placed him. I gave him a nice comfy, warm place to sleep and just checked on him frequently. after he rested for a LONG time, he was back to normal. It was a little strange.

He begs and begs to be on me, then just plops down and sleeps. I swear that's the only use he sees in me lol.

Jazz came up and started preening him! Cheddar is the only bird jazz will interact with. They have been getting along so well I recently moved them into the same cage, a larger one.

Also, I'm back. Sorry for the tantrum. I just needed a break from my social groups. Unfortunately I have a mental condition that goes untreated from time to time and I get a little sensitive. I hope you will welcome me back to show off my flock. I think my facebook friends get tired of seeing so many birb pics.

right?! I put him in the tub on his back, sometimes he stays on his back I was surprised he hadn't moved while I warmed up the water. Then enough water filled and he started floating while he chewed on his foot. It was hilarious.

OMG that is so cute! I had no idea parrots could float. I always assumed they'd just sink like a rock since they aren't water birds or designed to float.

Nandays are really really a different kind of bird aren't they? They are like the "weird kid in the room" in kindergarten class. Like the one who when asked what his favorite food is he says "glue sticks" or something lol. My Nanday is a giant doofus...

I'm going to hazard that this is possible for most oil based birds. With the idea being that the oil they preen with is water resistant and with them on their back with the feathers smoothed out they keep a water tight seal. Add the small weight to size ratio due to them essentially being a big bag of air hey presto, a floating bird!
