Nelson's First Hatchday

Nelson the CGCC is one year old today. He had a fun day with extra time outside his cage, some special treats and a couple hatchday gifts (some of the dried pineapple and papaya that he likes and some big cork stoppers to chew up).

I wanted to take a hatchday photo of Nelson but he was camera shy today. Here's a familiar one, from the day he arrived last June:

No worries-- it's not a spear, but a plastic cable tie. I use them to attach parrot toys to the cage, but Nelson thinks they're fun to play with by themselves too. And Nelson really doesn't need any kind of weapon. He already has an effective one attached to his face.
