Hello all,

I recently purchased a new bigger cage with a play top for Ace.
He refuses to go near it or go on top of the play pen. Are there any tips or ways to encourage him to explore his new home? I have tried to lure him in with treats but he still will not budge. I do not want to force him into his new cage.

How long have you had the cage??? If its rather new put it right beside his existing cage. Let him get used to it. Open the cage door and let him explore. Make sure you have treats and toys in the new cage to entice him.

If you haven't had the cage long, don't worry about it and just take things slowly. First just let him get used to it being in the same room, then next to his old cage, then you can get him to go on top of it, etc. As MikeyTN said, be sure to have treats and toys to reward him for going in. Good luck!

Thanks for the input! I have toys in there for him but i dont have it in the same room. Ill put it in the same room and let him get used to it being there with the door open. I have had it for may two weeks. Will update.
Thanks again!

I had the very same problem with Ninja. I got him a new cage, and of course he was not as excited about it as I was.

It took a few weeks for him to adjust, keeping him in his old cage while he got use to his new one. he would climb on it explore it, but would come back out. One day he decided it wasn't so bad after all ;)

you cannot rush them at all, just let them be and they will eventually come to like it.

When I got Rosie's new cage I set it up in front of her were she could see it(no fear, she even sat on the half built cage until she was in the way and I had to move her). Once completed I placed the new cage's door next to her old cage so she could climb on it.

In Rosie's case she immediately went into it and never once looked back at her old cage, but I had planned to use that set up for however long it took even if it meant having her new massive cage in the way for a few weeks lol
