Hello Everyone. :) :orange: We have our own little zoo going on including our dog, cat, house rabbit, geckos, snake and fish. However, I recently became mom to a Jenday named Merlin. His previous owners moved away and were unable to take him with them. He is probably around a year and a half to two years old though I'm working on getting his hatch date. I have some experience with birds, but have never owned one as an adult so I have a lot to learn.

Right now, he is a little love! He loves attention from everyone and is quite the little ham. I have several questions at the moment. For one, can you give them too much interaction that it stresses them? I work at a counseling center and he come to work with me a couple times per week and he gets to be with me while I get ready in the morning and then for a few hours when I get off work. He seems tired and maybe he's just still settling in, but I give him 12 hours of sleep at night and when I take his blanket off in the morning, he's still asleep, though he stretches and gets out of his hammock and comes out for pets when he sees the light. He seems to put his foot up often like he's about to take a nap. Too cold? or too tired? or just comfortable in my hands?

My second question if about diet. I'm really trying to get him to eat more vegetables... maybe I'm just impatient. He loves oranges, apples and cooked egg and rice. I've been trying to get him to eats carrots, romaine lettuce, bell peppers and radishes are what I've tried so far. He's picking at the little bit more, but he seems to think it's more fun to throw them on the floor for the dog. Suggestions?

Lastly, my husband had a greek cheek conure that became a little jerk. He doesn't enjoy to eat anything accept sunflower seeds even though they gave him all kinds of fruits and veggies right from the start and he hates people. I'm sort of worried that Merlin will turn into that. Is that just bad breeding do you think or just mistakes newbies make?

Would love any feedback. Looking forward to being an active member here.

Conures go through a phase called the 'terrible twos' where they hit sexual maturity and get hormonal and aggressive. So most conures become 'little jerks' when this happens - how old is the green cheek?
