Hello Everyone and thank you for allowing me to join!

I am new getting back into birds but not new to having birds. My Mother raised Canaries when I was a child, later I had a Cockatiel and when my oldest children were young we had rescued an abused Red Headed Amazon (That I later gave to an organization that took in animals and used them to teach children how to take care of animals).

So fast forward many years, states and kids later, we now have a pair of bickering Parakeets we got from a rescue (Dudley & Gracie). Dudley and Gracie are like a little old married couple that one minute they are bickering at each other and the next kissing and preening each other, its adorable. Im not really sure how they ended up at the rescue Dudley has some serious deformed toes and really has a hard time holding a perch. I will find the right forum to ask some questions on that and post pictures for help.

Monty is my DNA male sexed Ducorp Cockatoo, hatched May 2016. I never really wanted a Cockatoo but have been researching and visiting them and fell in love with him. Talked with the breeder many times about the breed, our family etc. and Monty is the one we picked and he should be home this week. He's posted in my avatar. He is a doll and we are all very excited.

Marley is a Bolivian Blue and Gold Macaw DNA sexed female, hatched May 2015. We are picking her up from a family down South of us that I have been talking with for a couple months. The family is having to move back North after this year and have another Macaw and can't take Marley, shes the new bird they got to be friends with a older bird they have and its not working out (He really doesn't like her) plus they are now looking at a divorce etc. So anyway Im going to get her in a couple weeks.

Anyway, So Im introducing to basically baby birds to a new house and new bird siblings. Monty will be first and he is the baby baby, then Marley is next about a year old. I really want them to get along and to do the intro as low stress as possible. Thoughts? Helpful hints?

Again, Thank you for having me,
Vicki

Welcome to the Parrot Forums!

With several Parrots coming from different places, it will be important to separate them by as much distance as possible to limit the transfer of any illness, etc....

The old saying that: Birds of a Feather Flock Together holds as true today as it always has. There is no way to know whether any of the the Parrots will get along. It would be very wise to set-up your home based on none of they getting along. And, when they are out, they must be supervised!

Again, welcome to the Forums! Please take the time to read the Forums specific to the species you have coming as a means of getting in front of the feather feast.

Welcome to you and your flock, Vicki!! Quite a variety of birds, including a Ducorps! I had to Google the species and appreciate their beauty, particularly a crest that seems a melding of Goffins and Umbrella!!
