Sadly...I do not own a parrot
I dont have a parrot at the moment, but did used to own a hand tame Hahns macaw. I have a real interest in natural history, with a particular interest in birds. I am also into photography and drawing, and so combine these three interests to come up with my own art. If this works, I will have posted some of my stuff below for you to see...

I have a W.I.P ongoing at the moment. I will post this in a seperate thread as there are quite a few pictures...can I just ask, as it is not really too clear...where is this forum based? Is it U.K? U.S.A?

Hi all. I am a primary school teacher for my sins, and the artwork/photography is a pastime. I do get some of what I do made into limited edition prints. I am currently working on an A2 picture of White Fronted Amazons. I would try to post it, but as you can see, I seem to be doing something wrong trying to get my stuff to show in here. Dont have a problem in the other forums I use. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

I am considering having this one done as a limited edition print.

Minime you are doing nothing wrong ... it's a safeguard in the forum to protect against spammers ... you will be fully functional shortly (the next time our Admin logs in he will fix you)

I have to say that these are amazing images ... are you drawing from an image or are you just drawing from memory ... I am very impressed with these drawings ... I think you should work on a sun conure next, or a Green Cheek ... not that I am biased in anyway ... :p

Wow the Amazon pictures are amazing! Wish I had that kind of talent. I'm thinking Tex that maybe she should do a Senegal. Even though though a Sunnie or Green Cheek would be cute too.

I have a friend over here who has seven different colour mutations of green cheeks. I am going to photograph them all this season and then compile a drawing similar to the one of the amazons, with one of each of the mutations on it. How would that go down do you think?

The picture of the red lored with it's head tucked into it's feathers is amazing. Where do you get your inspiration for these if you dont have any parrots? They are very lifelike

Hi. Its a hobby that pays for itself (rather unusual these days!). What is a FId? Sorry for my lack of knowledge. MM

Hi. They are all White fronted amazon in this picture (the one with its head tucked under its wing is a juvenile). I took about 50 reference shots at a place called 'Stapley Water Gardens - Palms Oasis,' situated about 40 miles from my place. I am off to Wednesbury on Sunday, to photograph Galah for another picture I have in mind. I have recently photographed a hen Grand Eclectus for another idea, but that will only happen if I can get someone to allow me to get reference shots of a **** bird to go with her.

My next piece onece I have finished this one though, looks like it is going to be a pair of Congo Greys in a fig tree. I will post a WIP once I start it.

You can get some interesting wall murals from tatouage. Type in tatouage in your search engine. There are several places who sell it. I used it for my bird room, sprayed over it with clear gloss. It can be washed and the parrots can't take it off.

All done (I think - I will take a final look at it tomorrow just in case, in the cold light of day). Generally though, I feel that I have finished this piece and worry about over working and making it look too busy. So....33 hours after putting the first pencil to paper, I give you.....

'Wake Up Call.' (dimentions = 23.5 inch X 16.5 inch)

This is not the best photograph and I will have to re-do that when I get a good sunny day so I can use natural daylight, but knowing the good all British weather, that may be a while. The next stage is to have it barrel scanned and get some idea of the costings of having it done as a limited edition print (of 50 I think). Thanks for looking in on this one... CAG to follow!
