Piper is starting to get settled in now so I took some new pictures today. She has been enjoying exploring her cage and nibbling at her toys. She is also eating her pellets like a champ! She's taken a few nibbles of her veggies, but doesn't seem super interested in them at this point. I've only had her a couple days, but I can't believe how attached I'm already getting!

I hope you enjoy the pics :D

What a pretty little girl! Love her colors!

She's beautiful!!! :)

So so cute :)
I love her colors too ! I don't know much about the species but my husband loves them .
Are they different colors on their heads ? I thought I saw one before but the colors were a little different...

Yes, there are several different types of pionus and they each have unique coloration. The ones most commonly kept as pets (besides the maximillian) are the blue headed, white capped, bronze winged, and dusky.

Thank you for the description of the various types :). That explains why I was a bit confused on what species I was seeing in the stores. If I was asked what type of bird it was , I probably would have said "some type of conure". :
Sorry folks :52:
But I do love them :)

Time for another update! Piper is really fitting in wonderfully. I spent quite a bit of time with her yesterday, and we are making really good progress. She already seems very comfortable with me and will even come to the front of her cage to see me sometimes. When she first arrived, she did NOT understand how to step up very well. After working with her yesterday, she now steps up just about every time you ask her to! What a smart little bird! :)

She is also really enjoying her cage and her toys. She loves her Harrison's pellets and Bountiful Harvest mix from MSBS, but she's still a little picky when it comes to veggies. I'm sure this will improve with time as I continue to offer her fresh foods.

I've only had her for a few days, but it already seems like she's been here forever. I am so happy that she's adjusting so well! Here are a few pictures I took of her yesterday:

I was thinking of trying the Bountiful Harvest mix for my guys too !but I just put a food order in and that will have to wait.....maybe I'll order a small bag..I love to give them different foods and watch them pick through and enjoy new things :)
