Do you think Malcolm would be ok traveling with me and staying in the camper we have a smaller cage and basically the only time he would be in it would be while he sleeps and while I am out.
Most amazons travel well. Do make sure your camper is absolutely reliable for temperature maintainance. The only real danger that I can think of is if you leave for a period of time and the air conditioner stops running or something. You could bake the little guy pretty fast I would think. Thats why I never take birds on camping trips etc with me. My guys can do a quick overnight in a hotel no problems. If I thought I'd actually stay at the campsite the whole time, I'd take one with me camping too. But usually I'm out fishing and hiking or doing something not safe for the birds. Theft can also be an issue too, so make sure your camper is secure and fairly tamper proof before leaving him. I'd be inclined to leave him home myself, but depending on what kind of camper you have, it might be doable. Travel and socialization as Richard said is a good thing if you can do it safely.
