Nickel plated steel BirdTricks Quicklinks?

Hey everyone, I’m back with another question regarding metal and bird-safety.

I ordered toys from BirdTricks, and they come with nickel-plated steel quicklinks. I opted to use them because I was unable to get others in the meantime.

My conure has taken a liking to chewing them, and now I noticed some small scuffs in the metal where it either;
A) came that way
B) he picked it off
Or C) he possibly ingested it

I read different things everywhere about the safety of nickel plated steel. He’s acting normal, just looking for some insight here.
