RIP "pineapple" lovebird
I have the day off at the restaurant tomorrow and only have my barn to take care of so I went shopping tonight.

On th menu two flavors of chop, and a sweet potato mash ball...
I have the bird room door closed and like to do my cooking at night so I don't feel bad leaving them out. :)

I'll take pictures of hopefully happy birdies in the morning!

I am interested in what a sweet potato mash ball looks like (hopefully before the birds get a hold of it:))

Well... Seeing as I made about enough for an army... What picture would you like? The ones I didn't bake? The ones I did? The cinnamon or the ginger?

Yes. There's a lot.

It has butternut squash, canned pumpkin, carrots, sweet potato, quinoa, flax, chia, kale, (either cinnamon or ginger) and is rolled in oats.
I'm still rolling. Had to take a break.

The non baked ones have just a tad too much moisture but who knows maybe they'll like it that way.

So the chop has to wait til tomorrow. I quit on the 200th potato ball. I think I have enough for a month, or two... They better like them.

Those look great! They'd be very foolish birds NOT to like them;)

:32: making me hungry... I love sweet potato! So do the birds. Those look great :).

So all the ingredients are mashed together formed into balls then rolled in oats. What makes the firmness to hold them together? I guess I'm really asking for your complete recipe, got the ingredients, please give the ratio/amounts. My FIDS and I love sweet potatoes. Just starting to chop for them, have always given fresh foods along with Zupreem. Any more recipes would greatly be appreciated.

Same here I would love the recipe. My Mac now things Sweet Potatoes are for paining the perches. Refuses to eat them but all I have been doing is baking and then cutting into cubes for him. Tried a little cinnamon but nope he will not eat it.

I am fairly certain this recipe or one very similar is on Land Of Vos website. They have a lot of great recipes that could be used with any parrot not just eclectus.:D

Wow, that looks yummy! A lot of work, but so nice to have a batch of healthy, home cooked, birdie munchies, ready to thaw and serve.

I think I googled sweet potato mash ball parrot and it came up. It's a red screen with two caiques on the recipe page. There are no exact measurements,

And my birds don't like it yet. So we will see if they change their minds. I hope so.

Ha! I hid one of Chiquis nutriberries in a ball... Now she is eating it and seems to be enjoying it.
Loki still thinks it is poison,

Those look amazing! I'm so glad that Chiqui is eating one now, and hopefully Loki will soon follow suit. Sometimes it takes weeks before some of mine will finally try and like new things..thank goodness for a freezer.

I'm just lucky pineapple will munch at the birdy bread... He's one picky lovebird.

I'm sure Loki will attempt it eventually. Took him a couple days with his chop mix too.

They both eventually ate it!
And Chiqui is a very neat girl while eating. Loki has covered his wall with food.

I did just feed them dinner and I think both were relieved it's a "normal" fare.
