Now is the time to panic

all I can say is about time.....you know more than most about bird rearing, finally you have a kid on the way.

I will say there's nothing set in stone yet in regards to a new conure. I'm still unsure of my schedule with going out to see friends and my own things I do outside of work. It would be nice to have a new companion but I need to do right by them and not just what I would like to do. Plus I need to make sure I have money for my ridiculously over-expensive car insurance in june

How expensive is car insurance in the UK? There are so many factors in the U.S, but young age comes with a price. :(

HA HA your young Lord Triggs ....SUCK IT for being young and attractive...pay the MAN.

well last year my insurance was £1600 roughly about $2000 or so and of course being UK you have to have it by law. Saying that it should halve this year as I breach an age threshold for insurance and will have a year of no claims discount. But the main thing like I say is making sure I have the time for them as with things I do outside of work I get home sometimes past 7PM at least once a week which with a wake up time of around 7AM wouldn't be fair on their sleep cycle

Not dramatically higher than in the U.S! Good to know you're about to pass an age threshold and get some relief!

Insurance law's are basically the same here M'Lord...gotta have it or else
You guy's have the "little green lizard" over there? (Geico)

You NEED a new fid in your life! He/she won't be deprived of anything.
I have my "stuff" that I do too,and Amy and Beeb's understand and go with the flow. Sure, sometimes I feel guilty, but they understand...and after nearly 30 years of all sorts of up's and down's and sideway's things that has happened...Amy has maintained his sweet,"mostly good" birdonality..never to pluck or scream.

You'll do GREAT as a papa again. Just my $0.02 worth ;)

My all-time favorite Geico commercial is the pirate's macaw!

Couldn't find it now, but a while back there was a video explaining how the macaw commercial was made. They spent big bucks to build a wooden pirate ship in a large lot, outfitted the deck as needed, and filmed at night with special effects. They auditioned at least 6 different macaws before choosing the star!

Yeah, this will be cool! I so wish I had 'baby' pictures of Skittles. I had asked his breeder if she had any and she told me she only does that if people ask for it and since I didn't get Skittles directly from her, but rather a local pet store it wasn't possible.

You know what's funny, I found the anticipation of waiting actually left me worse off, than if I'd just gone and gotten my bird. I was so worked up that when I actually got her I freaked the hell out lol

I know you've done it before and everything but I know you've been itching for this little guy/gal.

Count me on the "I want pics" list!

Lol I did this too!

You can manipulate sleep cycles with black out blankets and lighting if required - the key is understanding the theory of sleep cycles and the impact it has on the fids, so that if you do notice your day to day schedule is impacting their behaviour you have the skills to fix it. You're capable. Good you've got your wits about you, but don't overthink yourself out of what is clearly passion driven either!
