Opposite Sexes, Different Species

I'm sure this is going to sound like the most idiotic question ever, but I need to know.
Would a male bird be attracted to a female bird during mating season if they are two different species? (Cockatoo & Cockatiel)

Well, they couldn't make babies, BUT there have been cases of birds bonding with seperate species, just like they bond with us, so yes it is entirely possible that they ca become bonded and sexually active, though not quite sure about a tiel and a too, what kind of too?

EDIT: Also it may be unsafe if your questioning whether to put them in the same cage, even though they may be friendly a too's beak is much bigger and can be very dangerous.

I will definitely not put them in the same cage. Lol
Though I do plan to have their cages in the same room, at opposite ends.

And I would like for them to be able to interact with each other when they are out of their cages, sometimes. And like someone here told me; It's all about the birds involved whether or not they'll get along. I understand. If they do get along, would I have to worry about the birds butting me out of their lives? I could schedule their time together, and keep it limited. would that help? I still want them to love me and want attention from me.

Well, I suppose I could simply alternate their out-of-cage time during mating season...

Oh sure! Actually cockatoos and cockatiels are related, so it's quite "normal". My girl lovebird had a crazy love affair with my male budgie - I even posted a thread about that. However now this budgie loves my green cheek conure Parry most of all in the world, although Parry is a male (at least we assume he is). And my lovie is hitting on the other budgie. LOL As far as my own flock goes attraction between different species is quite common.

It is possible, but like you've already been told, whether they get along, is totally dependent on the birds involved, though I don't know if I would let a hen 'tiel interact with a male rosebreasted, especially if he tried to mount her, I would be afraid he might hurt her in the attempt and you could receive a serious bite, trying to save your 'tiel.....if nothing else, I seriously doubt she'd be able to support him to begin with.....that being the case, I think it might be considered abuse to even let them try to interact...I would think that any eggs generated would be larger than a 'tiel hen could pass successfully.....why would you consider letting these two interact in the first place?

In the case of the galah & the 'tiel, the sexes were reversed.....and they had been caged together for a period of time, with the owner not thinking anything would happen between them either.....

If it is dangerous, then I suppose I simply wouldn't allow them to interact.
The only reason I would want them to interact, is so that they can have extra company. If it's a bad idea, oh well. I can give both of them plenty of my attention and time out of their cages, separately.

If you are watching them you can break anything up. They should be fine supervised.
