Eva, a Green Cheek Conure Hatched March 4th, 2012.
Of course I have rubbed off on my 12 y.o. son. He wanted a bird of his very own. So he has mowed lawns all summer and saved up every single penny. I thought he was saving for his first hunting gun. Well, he surprised me today when he walks in the door with a bird. He was proud as a peacock holding Sunny. He bragged of course that he only spent $20.00 on the 3 year old bird. Which I'm glad to say, likes Shane. He also notes that he still has enough to put down on his first hunting gun. LOL But the lady just fell in love with Shane and my husband and knew that Sunny was going to a great home so she gave them the deal of a lifetime.
I'm happy Shane is happy and I'm so glad he's helped me with Eva all this time to learn how to clean the cage and feed daily. But you know who is going to be caring for the bird when school starts. LOL (It's okay, I'm up for it) ;) :)

what a great story, he has a friend for life :)

Thank you guys. He goes tomorrow morning for his first check-up. The lady who had him never had him vet checked. Which I never agree with. All animals, with our without wings needs to see a professional doctor at least once a year. I'm very strict about that. Shane said he's paying for Sunny's first visit. I'm sure I'll be pitching in to make it easier on him. LOL

how cute, i am sure you are very proud of him. He is really showing responsibility for his age and by the way that is a beautiful bird:D

Well, Sunny got a good bill of health. They trimmed up his nails and clipped his wings a little more.
He's being snippy right now. He did take some seeds from my hand. He's just refusing to eat from his own bowl. I don't understand why. He's in the same cage he was in for the last year.
I'll give him a few more days. I'm sure he's not comfortable just yet. :)

What a cute little boy!

Your son sounds very mature. You must be a good parent. :-D

Thank you Remy! I think he's a pretty good 12 year old. He is very responsible. I'm proud of him along with my other two children. :)

very cute :) I agree with Remy!

Your son is very responsible! I'm only 11 so the way I got my 2 cuties was writing essays about them and everything.

Sunny is so pretty! So glad that there are kids getting into parrots!
