I set my dvr to record this program next week....must be airing at a different time here?? it says 11/13 at 8 PM on my program guide. :)

I checked here, and I'm going to miss it....I don't get PBS, grrrrrrr!

I am trying to set my dvr but it isn't showing up that it is coming up. grrr!

Maybe try Nature on its own? My TiVo found it but it was under Nature, thankfully TiVo is smarter than me and figured it out. ;)

its not on tonite where i live, the pbs special for tonite is "animal couples"

whew!, mine too for next week, my nephew found it and is going to pvr it for me.....
we have 3 pbs channels on our tv, but we only get the one channel.

It might be on that one. I don't want to miss it.

Sorry for bumping this; but for those who want to see it and perhaps missed it:

I actually saw it on youtube, and had no idea it was on PBS last fall!

Not going to lie... it made me cry.

Thank you so much for sharing this! I haven't been able to find it up here and this is playing for me:)

I just finished this and it also made me cry. Makes me wish that all my guys could have had a chance to be free. I have never wanted to win the lottery as much as I do now, so I could take in more birds that need homes.
Thank you, thank you for sharing this.

Oh my... this made me bawl! I'm still trying to process it all, and I'm so glad we've got a little friend on the way for Jellybean. But now I'm feeling so guilty that we went with the breeder instead of the rescue...

JennyB, that baby you are bringing home needed a good home too... You have nothing to feel guilty about:)

I heard about this right after it aired so thank you for posting it. How can you NOT cry when you watch this. This is going to take some time to process this just the guilt about having a bird locked up in a house.

I mean do disrespect to anyone who went to a breeder, but I'm so glad I adopted Wesley and my conures were Petco rescues.

I did feel an immense amount of guilt from watching this. So it did evoke emotions which were the filmmaker's intent. However, I think we all need to take a step back and think about this in another way. Having a parrot in captivity is not all bad. It gives the bird a life free from being hunted by predators. Food is always available, and they have caretakers that do care for them, who lookout for them when they are sick and in health. Being "wild and free" has some serious downsides, too.

I get mad to see parrots in the situations depicted in the video. But truthfully, it's not much different then the situations you see with abused dogs, cats, even children. The fact is not everyone is cut out to be parents.... Of animals or human kind!

So that being said, we just need to work hard to provide the best life possible for our feathered, furry, and human families and try not to get all wrapped up in feeling guilty about how the grass is greener on the other side. It's not. :).

I had posted this a few months back. It was around the time of Safaris' death so I just could not bring myself to watch it.

thanks for bumping this up, I watched it this morning, and it was truly an eye-opener.
