Are you thinking that they may be same as peanuts in shells?
Found this advice: Nuts in their shell can be stored in a cool dry area and should last up to a year. Shelled nuts should be refrigerated or frozen in airtight containers and used up as soon as possible. Also feed sparingly as nuts are high in fat which can be detrimental to health if overfed to a sedentary bird.

Naw, my concern was the shell. With walnut shell bedding being dangerous, wasn't sure about the little guy eating pieces of shell from the fracked nut!
Well you wouldn't want the nut shell being swallowed as could be problematic in terms of digestion so if in doubt don't give in their shells. I have the laziest 'too ever so if anything is not on a silver platter he isn't interested.
