Penny is sick, I've been holding back making a thread

Meeee toooooo

Operations Feed Penny is about to start!
Just spoke with vet, I'm to feed the formula, even 2 hours as much as she will eat at each feeding without forcing her.

Penny really perked up after that first feeding

She took 8ml!!! Oh why didn't I do sooner!!@
Won't be empty carbs either, is nutritional complete!! Thank goodness!!!!!
She slept after first feeding, but so much brighter!!!

Omg she is at her treat stick eating away!! After just getting 8ml of baby birds formula!!!

Encouraging news, Laura! Hopefully Penny has turned the corner now :)

Just fed 10ml yippee, she wants it, i give a mouth full, she eats then puts her beak up for more!! I have her stand inside a very loose roll of towel, not restraining , but keeping corralled loosely. Not holding head. She wants to eat!

And she had the energy to bite me and scream when I took her out of cage.

This is much needed wonderful news. I hope the hand feeding formula lets her really start to put the grams back on and gives her the energy and nutrition to beat this thibg!! Come on Pennygirl, you got this!!!!

Just texting vet, she said I'm very devoted, I love that word, and feel it captures my feelings. Soooo kind of her to prop me up!!

Tomorrow our goal is 40ml spread out, but she wants more liquid in her, so more wstery feed

She says sinus issues are a little harder to treat if fluid in there, and she had wanted Penny to be much better at this point, but that she was sooo sick its taking longer... besides extending the azithromyacin fir a second round no changes to meds ir adding anything..its working, slower than hoped but clear working. N

Love this turn of events, really drives home the need to medicate and support a sick bird on many levels. Nutrition and hydration so critical, and don't overlook the human touch!

Didn't wake me, was asleep when I got up. Right nostril wet with fluid again, rubbing it, I see some swelling around it.

Gave her the azithromyacin. About 8ml of feed

Nirmal morning poop. Lost 2 grams overnight...
Right eye can open, and keeps open sometimes, but closes every time eats. I feel is pain related. Can see keeping closed in feeding. Inhave towl draped around her but she is standing im not restraining head.

This is such a rollercoaster ride, and she's not even my bird. We're right there with you, my friend. I hope things are heading in the right direction overall, but wow, it's a challenge. Bless you for your vigilant efforts for sweet Penny. You're the definition of dedicated! Truly impressive. Prayers and healing thoughts continued for a happy outcome. SOON!

its very stressful, indeed.
Her last feeding she wasn't interested, then vomited after. Her crop is full, i will have to start checking thst. 40 ml for tge dsy will not be possible.

I weighed the rest of the flock, every single bird has lost weight. So a huge freak out for me. Called vet, all burds may have to be treated. But saving grace possible, scale seems to be malfunctioning. Will pick up a new one shortly. Also doing a meticulous clean of each cage bar and all surfaces..

Let us hope a new scale removes the notion of flock weight loss!

OK Penny, time for another massive rally please! Hang in there Laura, you are managing Penny exceptionally well.

It seems real weight loss in flock, fir sure for Penny and Cloudy. The other 2 quakers weight shifts more . Saxguy check my work!
Tadah almost always 74, today 69 so 6% weight loss sny thing over 5% is concerning ....but still 5 grams lost....I need Saxguy to confirm I obviously i am not a math wiz... Cloudy always 44 today 42

Tadah almost always 74, today 69 so 0.6 % weight loss not as scary....but still 5 grams lost....I need Saxguy to confirm I obviouslyam not a math wiz... Cloudy always 44 today 42

Tadah, 5 gram loss÷74 original weight x 100= 6.75% loss

Cloudy, 2÷44 x 100= 4.5% loss

Small-ish numbers, but definitely concerning. What is going on?

I don't know!!! Penny was with everyone while she was sick im sure, she us my oldest girl of unknown age and crappy past and crapy past diet ( before me) so I'm sure she is more sensitive ......
Bacteria on fresh veg, coliform in tap water, ??
Everyone has been stressed and caged and nit getting all rge veggies and extras, I can pray its just that ....waiting yo hear from vet

Thanks saxguy for math help again!!!!
