I imagine the problem related to nesting behaviour, as it seems to have lessened after the "nest" was removed from their cage.

Some baldness around the neck. This has not been a probelm before.

I will update more

This is after a bath. If any of you have anything to add, please reply. I personally don't know enough to know what is a broken feather and what is an emerging new one. That would be helpful.
Sadly I have to wait a little before taking him to the VET due to corona, but I will soon anyways. But untill then any advice would be helpful.

something is wrong with your birds crop!!@ no crop should ever be that big in an adult bitd!! So the plucking of crop area is from pain from impaction or infection.
Your bird needs a vet right away...sorry but it does!

Thank you very much for your reply, it really helps. I will contact a vet as soon as possible.
By crop, you mean the top of the chest? I imagine you mean something else than the feathers that are unruly. His chest isn't really especially out of the ordinary as far as I know, just his feathers out of place. If you see something on the skin itself or something that is a different case.

his crop is under the plucked line sbd is as big as ping pong ball in thst pictures, something is wrong.

Birds pluck neck when something is up with crop too.

Does he chew any fabric or rope? Thst can cause an impaction. An infection can cause slow crop empting time. It can be yeast ir bacteria.

Yiu can feed greek yogurt with Acidophilus listed as one of the live cultures, abd no artificial sweetners. It's safe to feed and can help some with GI issues. Offer on yiur finger,
for you i recommend a glob in the morning and evening . And do daily if your vet puts him on antibiotics until after antibiotics are finished. Some vets may say it does nothing.
I have seen tge proof of it helping in my birds. So I feel very confident in recommend. And I'm about to link a sick burd helpful that vet also recommended yogurt. But your baby needs a veterinarian and medicine.
Can you share a picture of poop?

Like I said, the feathers are ruffled in the picture, but I will take your concerns into conciderations to be on the safe side.
I don't have any Greek yogurt, although I doubt I could get him to eat it even if I had. I do however have a vitamin supplement with probiotics, also their food has also probiotics. (Some lactobacillus or something I think.)
I will however being them to the vet as soon as possible.
I am unsure if I can get it done tomorrow, but I will attempt Monday. I am dependent on a driver and it is a long drive sadly.

Please share a poop picture. I had/have a bunch of suck burds.. gotten pretty good at reading poops and have read a bunch on poops and sick birds
When you get yogurt, hold a dab on your finger in front of him and wait. Don't chase him around with it tho! Usually they will beak tip touch it , after they taste and think about it. They like it, and will lick off finger. If doesn't beak tip touch, dab your finger on his beak, then wait, Usually will decide they like.

Yiu should get a digital kitchen scale and set to grams and keep track of weight. You can zero out a Tupperware container abd out him in it fir axquick weight if needed. Right now if his crop is big like I think it is. He will weigh higher as each ml of fluid can weigh 1 gram.

What was nest made out if thst he chewed?

What does he eat?

Will try to share poop tomorrow if I can. Middle of the night here.

Weight will probably be impossible
Most stores are also closed tomorrow

He has been chewing on sticks, some toilet paper, some cotton cloth and possibly some wool. So I an impaction may be possible.
When it comes to food they been eating mostly seeds. I know that is not ideal at all, but I am having a hard time having them eat anything else. I have been trying for the last six months I think introducing small amounts of pelletfood, but not much luck. Vegetables and fruit have never been touched. I have been trying to supplement with some vitamins.
I got him and his female partner 1,5 years ago from an elderly couple who couldn't take care of them anymore. They were 3 years old at that time, and had not been socialized. They had also been only fed seeds. So this has posed alot of challenges. Not to mention I have no experience with birds other than this, although I am doing my best to learn.
Thus, even though they have become trusting enough to come sit on me and let me be close to them, anything beyond this is still out of the question.

Sprouts! Get seeds fir sprouting, human grade, on Amazon or at health food store. Follow instructions, try barely sprouted first, while it's still seed like. Sprouting makes changes that make seeds healthier!

You are doing great. Keep trying. Peppers are liked often, and a great source of vitamin A.

Chop works for some people , I hsve sn articles on chop, abd ideas to get them eating veggies. I will go get snd link.

Based on what he could have chewed like wool and cloth, I am worried. Go luck at vets!

Thank you very much. I have been trying peppers before, although also had the pepper plant once, and they seemed rather interested in the pepper-leaves. I didn't allow them to eat it however as I couldn't find anything about it being safe. I am regretting not coming to such a forum earlier, although I just recently discovered they existed.
I did try sprouting seeds once, with no luck, but I have already ordered more, so I will keep trying that.

Thank you for the kind words. It means alot to me that my attempts for what little they are worth to be recognized.

And thank you lots for your help.

Changes to parrots diet can be very challenging, you are not alone in that!@

Taming adult love bird pairs us also extremely challenging!!

I'm glad you joined , happy to help.
Most people on the forum don't have experience with sick birds, so they avoid those threads. And also we all get overwhelmed with sick burds here all the time, cso we get sad... I have experience with sick birds, and am currently about to clear my flock of 7 from a nasty prolonged psittacosis infection......since December!!! So I have learned a lot a long the way...and want to help.

If you post a hello in New members thread, everyone will stop in and say hi!!

If you use newspaper, maybe you can pull it out and share poop pic. Dried poop is harder to read... but I really want to see poop...I swear not weird!

Aldo try cooked pumpkin, tge extra fiber helps them if they have impaction, some..
This talks about crop impaction
https://www.currumbinvetservices.com.au/toy-cage-accoutrements/

This one is very graphic, with pictures of impaction sbd surgery
https://parrotfunhouse.com/blogs/pa...he-dangers-of-cotton-and-fabric-toys-to-birds

Your bird may not have this issue!!! And I may not be seeing what I think I am ok? I'm just trying to help. Its all good information to hsve if ever needed, and for the lurkers to read.

Aye. It is hard to keep your cool with all these challenges.

Alas, I guess that makes the effort all the more valuable.

And I believe many others, including me, are extremely grateful for the tremendous help offered by those such as yourself.

It means a lot that you give thanks!!! Many never do.

I require the plasma donations of up to 75,000 people monthly, for life! So maybe I can count this as a small way of paying it forward. Also a shameless plug for plasma donors if they healthy and can do so safely, as there have been shortages.

Laura is referencing the crop, normally covered by feathers and sometimes appears larger when filled after eating. I am sharing an image of a baby bird so you can see in detail without feathers. Doesn't matter the species, generally the same structure for most. Mostly round area below head, just forward of right wing.

Hopefully you can find an avian vet specialist from local directories or search engine: https://www.aav.org/search/custom.asp?id=1803

Birds are stubborn, changing diet very difficult. Helpful to keep offering and one day they will show interest. You can also make a game of it by preparing identical bowls of vegetables and fruits. Give one to your birds, begin to eat from the other. Make "mmmmm" sounds, bob your head in enjoyment. They are flock eaters, and you are a member of the flock! Just wanted to update in case anyone was curious.
I have been to the VET and there was nothing wrong with digestion or the crop. Otherwise they were also healthy.
The VET concluded it was most likely because of malnourishment/behaviour-related. Steps have been taken to deal with this, so results are pending. Any plucking also appears to have stopped after removal of their 'nest'.
Lastly I apologise if I startled anyone with the picture. Like I said, the bird had just had a bath which rendered alot of feathers more unruly than usual, which I also did share.

Thank you for all of your help. And thanks to this great forum and community :)

Im very happy to hear this!!! Images can be deceiving!!! But anything new like neck plucking should be checked by an aviann vet, because many times it's a health issue. Did they do swabs and gram stains?

Great job on getting him to a veterinarian.
Thanks for update
Can you share a new picture of him dry?

Just beware, when new feathers grow back he might pluck them out again. I hope he has stopped, at least not taking it further...but often once started it continues.
