I had a three-day weekend because I'm working on Saturday this week and that's how they do it at my job. I'll only have Sunday off this weekend and have to go back on Monday. I hate that.

But, put this on top of my having just had a vacation week at home and Rocky is rather put out that I had to leave him in his cage and go off to work this morning. He knows the signs that I'm leaving. Keys. Purse. Jacket. He knows the difference between a jacket = going out to feed the birds or get the mail and jacket = leaving the house for an extended period. Crest comes up, he hangs upside down from the top of his cage and does his Tornado Too moves and then watches me leave through the window, mournfully. Guilt trip deluxe. I explain that my going to work means he gets fed regularly and so do I, but apparently he'd rather have me stay home.

I always marvel at their astute reading of the most subtle cues. Amazed at how well they can adapt.

I think Toos are really good at that. This is from a few years ago, I was leaving for work and this is the picture I was sent right as I was leaving...

Exactly. LOL I usually park in the driveway on the other side of the house, where I can't see him looking mournfully out the window, but today I was parked right outside the window next to his cage, and he hung on the bars and stared holes in me as I got into the car. Sheesh, dude. It's not like I WANT to go to work. I definitely do NOT. Thank goodness my dog was snoring on the bed and the other two birds were in their own room at the back of the house. They were squawking for me as I left, but they're more independent than Rocky, who apparently hates everyone except me, and some days, me, too. LOL

I have jugs I go fill at my parents place as they have well water and it's free (city water is gross here). As soon as Jacob sees those bottles getting packed into bags he knows what's up, he'll climb down and try to knock over the bottles and just be bad.

One time I was babysitting him back when my mom still owned him and once he saw me packing my backpack he climbed down to the entrance and was being a weirdo (doing the nesting thing, it was October). Here are the videos of that event (I didn't have much experience with him like I do now) I know this is the cockatoo thread but I gotta share this cute stuff about my macaw, it's in 4 parts:

Mine gets mad at me and puffs, then jerks her head like she is going to bite at whatever I do (even though she goes into her cage willingly and doesn't follow through on her threats)... Totally get it... haha
