All you creative toy makers finally made me feel so guilty, I put together a couple of quick toys for Poppy today. She helped make them and couldn't wait to start trashing the basket.

Poppy snuggles everything and everyone she likes.

Thanks Mom, I'll destroy it all by myself.

This is Poppy's absolute favorite toy design. They usually don't last more than an hour or so.

Poppy's had this toy for a year and a half. She plays it every day. I may be in trouble for moving it.

And here is her new musical instrument and her purple mohawk. She started playing it immediately.

Awesome toys Allee!!! LOVE the busy-basket!! And that's a BIG basket! Lol

I LOVE Poppy's new 'do! :p I bet she has a blast with her new toy! And that guitar is awesome- no wonder she plays with it every day!

I love this! All of it!

You guys are giving me great ideas for when my grey comes home :o
I've been wanting to put together an activity wall of some sort, and between this basket and that amazing treasure box that RavensGryf made, and of course those woven seagrass mats that I see all over now, the possibilities seem endless.

I really love flowers, so your cupcake paper flowers are especially fantastic!
If my little one is a boy, I'm naming him Versailles and I feel compelled to have bushels of shreddable flowers everywhere for him as a result.

What exactly are those beep boop toys? Are they music and learning toys for babies? I worried that something like that would be too much stimulus for a grey so I mentally crossed them off my list, but now I'm seriously reconsidering.

Aw, I love all that Allee! That basket is great :). Poppy is showing her thanks by cuddling into it lol. Wow, big toys only lasting an hour... Smh!

You're going to have so much fun with your little one!

Both the noisemakers are Fisher Price toddler toys. The guitar has two channels, Lol. One channel is ABC's, Shapes, and counting, the other channel plays nursery songs, she can change the channel to hear what she wants.

I wasn't real sure about the flashing lights but Poppy loves it. She hasn't gone crazy eyed yet. She's nine years old though, I don't know about a little guy, I would think the piano would be a better choice until Versailles is a little older and you know his preferences.

Poppy loves shredding paper and making toothpicks out of wood blocks. I have an emergency tub full of toy parts, paper lunch bags, paper confetti, colored blocks, and so forth and lots of zip ties and quick links.

Oh my god I'm dying over here from all the cuteness!

Those photos rock. The third and sixth photos are amazing. The way she looks so lovingly at that light up toy in the sixth photo warms the heart. She looks like she's found nirvana or something lol.

What an incredible and fabulous assortment of toys!!!! WOW, Allee, I love them all. How did you make the basket?? Where can I find baskets like this??

And I will have to go get some Fisher Price toys for mine. I'm sure if they can withstand Poppy's beak, they'll hold up well with a mac beak, too. :D

This is so inspiring, Allee! And Poppy sure looks gloriously happy, content and oh-so-beautiful. :smile015:

Aww...that's awesome! Love the basket and Poppy looks so happy with all her toys!

Order placed for both the Fisher Price Rock and Learn Guitar AND the Learn with Lights Piano..... :54: :D (Thank you, Allee!!!)

Yep I may have to order those toys as well. Super cute and Poppy is SOOOO beautiful. Love the purple do and my goodness she looks like such a darling all cuddled up to that basket!

Poppy is so pretty in her basket! What a happy U2! She looks like she wanted to play model in it for a while before shredding it:)

And who would have guessed a cockatoo would like noise toys? (can you hear my hint of sarcasm:D). I must say, those are some durable toys to hold up to her (or is she just especially gentle with them). I occasionally see those kinds of things at the goodwill but have held off buying one for Kiwi. Maybe next time, I'll try him on one!

Poppy sends her thanks for all the sweet compliments! :)

Wendy, I found Poppy's basket at Hobby Lobby. I always sort through the clearance tables for wicker. I scrub them and dry them in the sun just in case. Seasonal cupcake holders are usually dirt cheap after the various holidays. I use a hole punch and leather, sisal, cotton, or zip ties to attach the flowers to the baskets. You have to let me know if Niko and Ripley like their musical toys. Poppy's human dad is calling her Nerd Bird.

Hahaha April, I did notice the tiniest touch of sarcasm. Poppy is as destructive as any Too, but she's very careful with certain things. She doesn't ever damage her snuggle swing and she's never chewed her guitar.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll look into those sorts of toys when the little one gets older :D

And I was going to ask about making craft baskets safe, so you already answered my question haha

Again, great job with everything! I have a growing collection of shreddable toy parts and I'll be adding some not-so-shreddable pieces soon as well.

Those toys are AWESOME! One question: I noticed you use confetti. Can the dyes be harmful for birds or is any confetti okay? My dollar store is full of it (for Easter) right now, and I know Sammy would love to tear that junk apart!

Thanks Britt, it's so nice to share DIY ideas. :)

Puck, I use colored paper confetti in a lot of toys and I've never had a problem.

What an awesome display of toys for beautiful Poppy!

Allee, you (and Poppy!) have inspired me to seek out more creative toys for my flock. They traditionally have enjoyed "chew" toys and very simple hard plastic baby items. I'll have to score some durable interactive attractions for them.

Thank you, Scott! I hope your flock likes your new ideas. It will be fun to see which flock members are interested.

 The guitar arrived already, today, Allee! The big macs were out on the Java trees as I unpacked it. Ripley was SUPER interested, even hopped onto the counter. Niko looked somewhat 'leery', so I decided this will be Ripley's guitar. Almost had to climb into his cage to get it attached. :32: He LOVES it! Hasn't broken anything yet, and each time he plays a song he's bopping his head, Lmao! I'll take a picture tomorrow!

INSTA-HIT!!! And boy did it come quickly! Thanks again for this awesome thread!! :D

That was fast, Wow! I hope Ripley likes his guitar as much as Poppy likes hers. She bee-bops when she plays her guitar too. Maybe Niko will get curious when he sees Ripley having fun.

Allee, I love your Poppy! She's such a sweet, pretty girl and it does my heart good, seeing her having such fun with her toys.

Not long after Barney and Madge arrived, I gave them a few sound-producing kiddie toys like these. One took Madge's fancy in particular: it said (with Elmo's voice) 'Come and play with me!' It took Madgie a little while to work out what made the sound happen and so it was a while before she made it 'speak'. Of course, she chose a moment in the middle of the night when I was all alone in the computer room to activate it. I nearly hit the roof, thinking an intruder was right behind me! It was only Madge and her Elmo toy. Whew! :D

Of course, now she knows what to do, it's hard to keep up with the batteries to keep her toys alive. LOLOL!
