Progress!

More progress!

I had nothing going on today so i spent the majority of the day sitting next to his cage and watching shows on my tablet. I'd give him the occasional treat, and lift my hand up to see if he'd have a sudden change of heart, but he just ran to the other side of the cage as usual.

Then I left to play video games for awhile, then went back downstairs for food. I walked up to his cage and lifted my hand to him totally expecting him to run away, but he didn't. So i slowly moved closer and he didn't run. Moved a little closer and he put his head down, and let me scritch his head! It's been a LONG time since he's let me do that. The last time was at the beginning of September on the car ride from Denton when I moved, and before that....it was pretty much when i first got him in June.

I let him out of his cage and he wouldn't let me do it, but once he was back in his cage he would.

I'm super happy about this. I keep feeling like I stop making progress with him, and then suddenly out of nowhere something changes.

This is great progress! When they begin to seek you out, that's awesome. Just build on that foundation... creating a trusting friendship with this little birdie. Try not to act timid with him, he'll sense it and it'll cause him not to trust you. Talk to him a lot, just as you'd talk with your best "human" buddy. Has he began to talk yet?

He says his name. He also makes some noises when he gets excited that sound like "what's that?!"

So awesome to read about your progress!! Glad it's working so well and that Raku is learning to trust you :)

My ybgcc is great with me but when it comes to others he is not as nice, he will pretend to cuddle then bite hard, how do I get him to stop being mean to visitors?
