Question about bathing...

My current birds are quite elderly and generally don't bathe in bowls any more, especially my 21 year old cockatiel. Am I better off spraying them down with a mister? It's been such a long time since they've had a really good bath

If they like a good mist then it's fine

I think it would be well worth a try for your guys. My cockatiels are not elderly, Jem is only about a year old and Fang is a middle-aged gent who is developing some "grumpy old man" tendencies as he ages. Fang has never been a fan of bathing in a dish or bird bath as such, but he absolutely LOVES a good misting from the squirt bottle! As for what Jem thinks about it, well the results here speak for themselves ...

Yeah, my hands get cramps from the trigger - gotta find a mister with battery power! Salty LOVES his mist bath!

I had a garden plant mister, 1/2 gallon that you pumped up with a plunger and then it sprayed for a long time. The plunger pump worked better than squeezing a trigger.

Otherwise, putting bird on the shower curtain for a while, then taking him down and reflecting spray off yourself is a nice way to get a shy bird really wet if they are dirty.
