So I'm planning on getting a senegal some time in the near future. I'm renting out a house that has an old self-cleaning oven. I'd say late 80's? Fairly old. I have no intention of using the self cleaning feature. But, I am wondering if it might have a teflon coating? Do all self-cleaning ovens have teflon? I know it came out in the 60's, but I can't find anything on my particular oven. It's frustrating.
The oven is used very infrequently (once a month, tops). The bird will also be in my bedroom, away from the kitchen. Would it be advisable to stuff towels in and around the door of my room if the oven is used just as a precaution?
Also, what is the temperature at which teflon first begins to release gases? I've heard numbers ranging anywhere from 450 F- 570 F from my reading. Thanks
