Remi and Petey - two weeks later

Remi and Petey are not making any progress in their relationship. In fact, it has gotten worse . Last night, Petey flew off of her cage onto Remi's cage and plain attacked him. This is making me very sad and it's upsetting.
I didn't expect them to be instant friends but this is not I imagined either.
I think the problem is that they are both people oriented (they absolutely love human attention), and will always see each other as competition.
So, needless to say, we are looking for a loving home for Petey where she can be an only bird that she is used to be. I will post in the rehome section of the forum as well. I am heartbroken but I don't want the birds to seriously hurt each other...

I still believe you can see improvement. My GCC Ta-dah used to fly to Penny to attack her. It was very stressful. But months of working with them and now there are no attacks. But ever parrot and situation is different. I support you in your choices, and understand the difficulty.

My son is stressed out. He tried to break their fight the other day, and he got his finger cut pretty bad. So, for that reason as well, it's best if we try and find Petey another home.

I've talked about my you be bad flag before lol, you can use a small flag to separate the fight instead of hands...

Well, we have learned the hard way that it's best to use a pillow or a placemat to separate them instead of our hands.
For now, they get different out of cage time so that everyone is safe. My son and I alternate the "babysitting" - if Petey goes with my son to his room (there is a playstand there), then Remi stays in the living room with me and vice versa.
I have had someone interested in Petey, but then changed her mind.
So, for now, Petey stays with us. I am still hoping for a miracle that they will get used to each other and maybe at least tolerate each other.

Update for anyone interested in Remi and Petey's story...
Petey is still with us because, well, we just couldn't give her to someone else.
I have had several people ask about her, one even came to meet her, but we just couldn't do it. We just love her...
The plan is to work a little harder on Remi and Petey getting used to each other. They each get one on one time with me and my son, have their own cages, and have opportunities to peacefully co exist. They may never be friends, but Petey has a home with us...

Aww. I think things can still improve!! Ta-dah really was a meanie to Penny for awhile. But something wonderful came of that too, it lead to Penny learning to fly!! And now one year later they can all be on their cage tops without fighting. Birds know how to flock, I think yours will keep getting better, fingers crossed!!!!!
Also group feeds seemed to help two dishes s but apart with Xtra goodies and you sitting between them in a neutral area like table top, or one super large dish of yummies. It's kinda of keeping busy with positive grubbing, not focused on eachother, and learning trust. Worked for me anyway

Definitely good ideas right there, we will keep trying.
Last night, one was on my shoulder getting scritches and attention while the other one was on the coffee table on a perch. Then we swapped. I think they just need to learn how to share, lol.
