I have a five-year-old female mustached parakeet. A few days ago, she started scampering around the bottom of her cage at night - all night, every night sense. She's also rattling her cage. I'm very worried for her, since I know she needs her sleep, and it's been keeping me awake, too. It's very unusual for her to be so active at night. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks.
She excaped and was out in the wild for two days about five months ago, before being found and returned to us. She was perfectly normal afterwards, but I'm wondering if this is some delayed psychological effect?
Also, would an upset stomach result in this kind of behavior? A few days ago, she got into a bag of walnuts and ate far too many.
Thank you very much!

Is there a chance you have mice or possibly a snake in the house/bird room?

What about trees/branches making noise and/or creating moving reflections/shadows on her walls?

You might put a blanket over the window to preclude reflections/shadows...

Birds don't have upset stomachs/acid like we do & I doubt there would be any ill effects from her big adventure, this far down the road...

Thanks, but I took her to the vet, and it turns out she was egg bound.
Thank you anyway, you seem to know a lot about birds!:)
