Well unfortunately some people (and these ones obviously) think that if they're not outright 'abusing' the animal, then they're considered rescued. Apparently they don't care about the quality of life for the animal, and think that extreme neglect is acceptable.

I have half a mind to go down there tomorrow and well... but not much help I can be in jail.

Anyways for all non-Alberta residents here is something you can do if you want.

I'm not exactly sure if there is a way to create a viable petition that can be presented to the Legislative Assembly with signatures from non-Albertan residents without being thrown out. I'm going to continue looking into this, to see if there is a government agency that we can petition to without going through the Legislative Assembly, as they have very specific rules on presenting petitions. In the mean time, people that aren't from Alberta can write letters to various government officials that are in charge of issuing permits to Alberta Zoos. As a non-resident, you still support Alberta in the food you buy (beef, produce, etc) and with your tourism dollars, and your opinion can affect alberta's reputation as well...all things that a politician should take to heart. I also found their website and they way its portrayed on their is so very different. Makes me sick how they can portray it this way when it so obviously isn't.
I did notice tho that they don't show you a lot of the cages, only far off shots.

Get them involved in your local area, and offer them your LIMITED support. (they are nut-jobs, so don't get into bed with them)

The people who need to see this are not the animal lovers, but the the people who are voted into office by the animal lovers.
Remind them that you vote, and if you don't, then register to vote and use the power the old guy down the street risked his life for in 1939-1945 (1941-1945 for slack arse Americans) to keep safe for you. Your vote is is your sword, if you let it rust, its useless.

I share your views on PETA Sarah. And, I am (laughingly) embarrassed to say that I, too, almost did not join this forum because there was a member named Peta.

I don't like their antics ... but at the same time, extremism does get results. (But, at the same time, not always in the right way).

Sorry Peta ... I love ya ... but I was a bit wary and e-scared when I saw your name! LOL

Anyone not from Alberta can write letters to the government here letting them know they will not purchase products from here, travel here and spend money, and give it a bad reputation. Anyone wanting to do this can, pm me and I will send on the addresses. We can also spread the word that this is happening.

As for the e-bay thing, there was some crazy guy selling parrot parts and bodies on ebay. They had came from the bird ranch, that I think it said had over 5000 birds Thought it was kind of weird all these birds dying around the same time, and then for sale on e-bay.

If you just come to these forums for the smiley side of life, then yes, we should not bring these topix up in future.
But, with due respect man, I think we have a responsibility not to turn our backs when this sort of crime is bought to the fore-front. My day is not any the better from seeing those pix, but the flame it ignites within in me is something that needs stoking now and then, lest it go out.

I don't blame you for not wanting to see pix like that, and I do hope for a time when this is exception and not the rule.

How can I say this without inciting a further crime,...... if I lived in that area, I think I would arrange a mass break out and an interstate adoption and then keep my mouth shut about the whole thing. As long as I didn't profit financially from the enterprise, I think I would get a fair hearing in any court in the land if I got rumbled (caught).

I have a lady friend that works for a news station I am going to call her and see if she will do a story on it to help SHUT THEM DOWN!
