I’ll just add this…you do have to be careful about the materials you use to make bird toys. Some wood is treated with chemicals, and some synthetic colors can be toxic. I find that our birds don’t care about the color anyway - they care whether they can chew the wood into satisfying little bits. Color is for marketing to owners, so maybe print a pretty logo and explain how the un colored wood is healthier. But if you color wood with food coloring, let it dry, then rinse off what will rinse off, what’s left is probably safe. Birds don’t have a lot of saliva and as long as they are just chewing, not eating, the wood it will be ok.
