DYH Amazon, "Lambeau"
CAG, "Greycie".
Adding to my flock once fully weaned; Green Winged Macaw.
So I was in the living room responding to a post on this forum (go figure). When I hear unusual bird noises coming from my bird's room. So I went to investigate
I found my 11 month old DYHA "Lambeau" with her poor hear stuck between a toy's wooden bars!!!! It scared me to death. She was struggling to free herself and I didn't want her to break her neck trying so hard. I calmly talked to her while still acting fast and all I could do was grab the wood "dowels" in my hand and break them to free her neck!!! Thank God it worked! It was like not hearing your kids in the other room and you know they're up to no good. I could just tell the noises coming from her cage weren't her "normal" clowning around noises. I'm so glad I was home. No more toys with bars/ dowels where a head could potentially get stuck in. I didn't think it was a dangerous toy, and it's one of her old ones (been rotated out and in a few times) I always inspect her toys and observe her the first time I give her a new "toy" not a foraging or shredder toy. I mean a toy that she more physically interacts with. WOW, what a scare. She seems fine talking away and muttering to herself again. I didn't take her out right away I let her settle down then I took her out gave her some love and a treat. She seems back to herself.
