- I have an african grey parrot called gary that is 13 years old.
Around 8 months ago my african grey parrot gary started falling off his perch and started i think having seizures, at first the vet had taken bloods and said he had low calcium levels, so i got that back to normal, then he had a ljmp on his head, it looked like a helmet, they said it was normal, i asked to see someone else, thry drew some blood and white stuff it was bacteria, now they have given me anti seizure medication, but he is still having them, he has also stopped talking, ive lowered his perches and i feed him the best food and fresh fruit and veg, powders, vitamins, i have tried everything, has anybody else had this problem, or any advice on what to do?
. My Quaker Parrot has seizures and I know how heartbreaking it is to see your bird go through that. Does the vet think the bump on his head could be the cause of the seizures? You can do with this what you will, but an unconventional thing I did for my parrot which has helped his seizures is CBD oil. Organic, THC free, specifically formulated for birds. It hasn’t completely eliminated his seizures but seems to reduce their frequency, duration, and intensity and he recovers faster. Just something I thought I would mention
