My little Yoshi is insanely good at flying! I've clipped his wings once by myself. He ran up into my neck & just stayed there. The next time didnt go that way. I had to have help. & now he's even worse. Help with holding a wiggle worm please!!!

The first time I showed him a towel he immediately freaked out. I'm not a big fan of using towels...my other bird i just sit on my leg & she watches like no big deal. Yoshi hates the towel. Full panic the second he sees it. Same with the scissors. He is the worst wiggle worm! I dont want to hurt him though...

I was looking on youtube video for proper holding techniques, but I really cant find any... (I really dont care about biting. I had one bird that would latch on & draw blood. But at least she stayed there. I wish he would bite the s**t out of me & just stay there. 🤣 he doesnt even try to bite he just bails!) Ive seen a couple of birds on youtube do the wiggle...but none as bad as yoshi. Does anyone know of a video that explains proper hand position for holding such a wiggle worm?

OR how do get such a wiggle worm to no longer be such a wiggle worm? 😅 my other half is like "I dont want to be your accomplice to this!" But I need help. I hate the idea of taking him to a bird store to get clipped...that would be so traumatizing to him. 🤣 my other bird is a proper angel for clipping. Im losing my mind with Yoshi & his wiggle worm ways! 🤣😂🤣

he is clipped already! But got new end feathers. Can you clip fresh feathers? That arent fully gown in yet? & he flies as if hes not clipped at all! He spends 90% of his time out of his cage & he has always stayed on his cage (or flies over to hang out with my other bird on her stand) & lately ive been having to lock him because hes all over the house. I wish my house was more bird friendly. But unfortunately I cant have him all over like that, it's just not safe. & its breaking my heart to keep having to put him up. Anybody have tips on teaching "stay" means stay? 😅 he always does yes yes yes yes yes *body goes up & down really fast* first before taking off. So If I could teach him stay that would help a lot. 🤣😂🤣

Please don’t clip the “fresh“ growing feathers. They’re known as “blood“ feathers because the shafts are full of blood while they’re growing, and clipping one will result in serious blood loss that can be dangerous. Back in the day when I used to clip (and that was a long time ago), I would have my avian vet do it, that way i knew it would be done correctly, that the bird would be safely restrained and if a blood feather did get clipped inadvertently - which it never did btw - they had the facilities there to stop the bleeding. I understand that not everyone has access to a certified avian vet, they are becoming harder to find and indeed my local specialist retired recently, but in my opinion that’s the best way to do it.

👍 thats why I was checking! (Blood feathers) Tbh I'm feeling very lucky right now, that I have never done that on accident! I did find a video of a vet checking that before clipping & that never even dawned on me to check that! 😬🤯 I'm definitely not clipping him now...too worried about that new feather. 100% a blood feather, it's only half way grown out. My other bird would let me check that...but not yoshi. Not right now.

I positively hate clipping their wings...it is absolutely the worst! 😭💔

He got in two new feathers...already clipped + two long end feathers & he's able to fly like he's not clipped at all! He is also crazy smart & such a good boy. I'm really leaning toward training come & stay. But no idea where to start with that...clipping his wings just kind of seems pointless at this time. Redundant...😅 he is such a good flier, flight feathers or clipped! Doesn't seem to matter with him. It's the craziest thing ever. 🤯 Yoshi ~ I will just flap harder & faster! I got this! Look at what I can do! 🤣😂🤣

Anybody got tips for training come & stay?
