Kiki - Indian Ringneck ( 2010 - 2011 )
Hello. This is my first post, so I think i'm welcome here. Here is the story :

My father got Indian ringneck parrot this summer ( parrot was 5 months in that time ) and she was a very happy bird. She ate everything and she flied. But, three days ago, his wife didn't wanted to take care of him anymore and she kicked him on terrace to get freezed. He spent 6-7 hours on sub-zero temperature. When dad returned home, he noticed parrot on terrace and he rescued him and gave him to me immediately. I was very shocked about woman's cruelty, so I took him to vet and he gave me some anti-biotic and some vitamins. Parrot eats normal and he drinks water, but he rarely get out from his cage ( cage is always open, of course ), stands on one place and he always close his eyes ( probably he wants to sleep ). Is that normal when parrot gets cold ? I hope he is allright. Thanks in advance !

I think the reason why she won't come out is because:
1. sHe is scared and traumatized from the inncedent.
2. I think she doesn't really trust people right now becuase of what happened. You probably need to regain her trust. I know I would be unhappy with someone that is way bigger than me throwing me out in the cold. It was good that you took her to the vet. Hope this helps. Take care

Thanks for response. I was afraid that will be something like that. :( The good thing is that he wants sometimes to stand on my palm, and I think that he's getting better and better. Poor bird... :( I can't belive why would someone throw such a cute bird outside to get freezed... :( I gave him boiled egg few hours ago and he ate all. :) Thanks again ! :D

Such abuse. Poor bird. In some states this person could have been charged with animal cruelity.

In our country exist, but its very rare. Its a miracle how he survived 6-7 hours on sub-zero temperature and I'm glad he is still alive. Here is some pictures of my parrot.

SO cute. Poor thing. I don't understand how someone could feel right with themselves after doing that to such a magnificeent animal.

Yeah, me too. If someone cannot take care on parrot, she would better gave someone that has will to keep him, not to put him outside to die... :(

OMG that beautiful bird looks EXACTLY LIKE STERRETJIE.
I am lost for words, thinking how can a human treat any animal in that way.
Never let her have any contact with the bird EVER
So glad the bird is in your care, being looked after properly and loved.

Good news. Parrot is now left the cage and he can walk now, play with object and I'm very glad that he gave some good signs.

I am glad to hear the bird is better. What is planned so that this does not happen again?? There is lots of winter and cold weather left.

Parrot is with me now, so he is on safe and warm place. Since I'm working at home, he is always with me + I leave TV on. I heard that parrots love TVs and radios. Do you have any tips or advices on how to entertain parrot ? Just want to be sure if I leave a home in couple of hours. Thanks again !

Toys and more toys, which by the way are easily made. Foraging toys are wonderful also. As you said the music and sound of TV will help keep them occupied. Here is a very good web site for you.

Thanks for the link. I gave him some marbles and some metal sticks and I think he likes to move marbles. I gave him apple today and he love it.

Here is one picture from today. He is on top of his cage. He done some flying today in room. He looks pretty good now.
