2 Jenday conures- Pheonix and Toto
1 sun conure- Petrie
2 budgies- lemon and Teak
Also fostering a cute odd duo of a ringneck dove and albino parakeet
Ill start from the beginning, I woke up the 31st and noticed dried puke on both of my Jendays...I thought maybe they were regurgitating for each other (We have only had birds for a year and a half so Im fairly new) I washed them off, and a few hours later I witnessed Toto throw up and started looking lethargic. Not many avian vets or any for that matter were open due to holiday so I got him in to one that night that doesnt specialize in birds. He administered amoxycilin and advised a heat lamp. I brought them both as they are caged together. I also had schedualed an appointment beforehand for the following monday in case I couldnt get him seen so I kept that appointment. Pheonix is not sick but Toto was still not himself with dropped wings, bobbing his head, not pooping as much.
Monday 1/4- consulted another non avian specialist vet- she checked their crop, both were empty and seamed normal. she did find a small amount of yeast in Totos so she administed .3 Ml of Nystantin, advised giving apple cider viniger water mixture and a probiotic which we started and said not to bother with amoxycilin. He seemed to make some progress, where he would have spurts of energy and then go back to resting under his heatlamp.
Wednesday 1/13- we were able to see the avian specialist- she looked under the scope at his poop and only saw like 3 yeast, so said the anti fungal may be helping but usually is secondary to another problem like a bacterial infection so she started him back on .5 Ml of amoxycilin. Once again it seemed he was making some progress but still not himself. she was already schedualed to come to our home this week the 14th for flock check/ sexing so she said she will follow up with his illness than..
Today- Im at a loss and want my baby boy back. Hes still not right and I would have expected him to make a turn around by now. sometimes he seems better other times he seems worse. Does any one have any suggestions or experience with this??? Im a new member so I dont know if I can post a video but his wings are drooped and hes just making wierd sounds floofing up and bobbing his head like a baby bird would. like i said the specialist is coming thursday, im just really starting to lose hope and my heart is breaking I dont know what to do
