Skittles, a sun conure
My sun conure, although I am told are not good talkers anyways, doesnt talk.
I have heard him say 3 words, no and stop it. and only a couple of times.
He is 3 yrs old, I figured he would be saying more by now as there is always someone home with him and we talk to him all the time.
any suggestions? or has someone else dealth with this before ?

Thats kinda sad, and I'm not sure I'd admit to it. Not that he doesn't talk - that's not that unusual. Some conures do some don't. As parrots go I would certainly not call any conures "good talkers". What's sad though is what he does say. They repeat what they hear you saying to them often and/or with emphasis. If all he has learned is "no" and "stop it" what does that tell you about your approach to him?

Auggie is not much of a talker but the words he says are "good boy" "that-a-boy" and a few versions of his name (Auggie, Auggie-boy, Augustine).

the stop it is from when he hears me say it to the kids, my two youngest, ages 11 and 16 argue all the time.
The only time he hears stop it to himself is when someone comes to the door and he sets up screeching, then the dogs start, he is thier early warning system lol.
No is for when he tries to bite holes in my shirt, which for a long time that was what he did ever time he was on me, he doesnt do it anymore. Trust me he gets praise all the time, he is very loved.
My daughter corrected me on the saying no, it wasnt no that he said, it was 'what' , which is what we ask him when he starts bobbing his head at us when we are talking, sorry for that, he hasnt said anything when we are around for a couple of weeks so I got it mixed up.
He also does try to say mama and skittles, he mimics a burp and loves Nickelback, will bob up and down to the music.
