I am looking for my next bird. I go on Craigslist and look around. I saw a photo of a hyacinth macaw and had to look. This is what I found. Sounds really weird to me. Who keeps a giant blue macaw and not even look for it's owners it's a $5,000 bird. I emailed them to see how much they want for it. I am not going to get it . I can't keep a bird like that not many people can. They are so big! If I lived in a warm place and could keep it outside then it could work. Who thinks of bringing an endangered parrot to the pound........ I am not a good speller and my Grammer is not the best. I had a hard time reading this. Maybe these people are just very uneducated...

Sounds like a scam or bird nappers ? Just so weird.

Actually more like $15,000!

But yes, this is a big scam and I see it on CL at least once a month. A lot of the time the phone number listed will be linked to numerous other scams as well.

Same here. It is really sad how many fall for it. I did see 3 post under it last month that they lost there money and not sure why the seller will not contact them

That is a known scam. Its has been circulating all over the country.

DO NOT FALL FOR IT!!!!!!!!

Hey, anyone want to buy a famous bridge in New York City??

I emailed last month (notice it's written for a dog/puppy?) and got a response...seems they MOVED (imagine that!) across the country, the story changed dramatically, and they want shipping. I was just curious as to how the scam worked because obviously they dont have the bird.

So they got back to me. This time they seemed to spell things better. It was very long respone about how it was their daughters bird and she passed away. They don't like to see the bird because it reminds them of her. Blah blah blah . They now are saying the bird was hand raised and a PR bird that has lots of training to be in public placed. They still did not give me a price.

Turns out they are cross the country and would have to SHIP the bird. WOW . I think I will flag it. I see it going down like this. Person says I have to ship the bird send me some money and then the bird is never shipped. WOW. Does anyone ever catch these people.

Send me the info in a PM, I'm very good at getting scams busted and putting an end to a particular name getting further traction with scams.

Same dirtbag running this ad on CL in the Portland area now. I've emailed back and forth, really just trying to frustrate them and waste their time.

Anybody can track this scam by going to a site that searches all of the craigs list around the world. It at All of Craigslist.

Enter "hyacinth macaw" and you will see all the cities that the scam is running. I regularly do this and I flag the adds for removal.
This scam also uses other parrots like B&G as well as others. Slight variations but its the same scam.

This scam is running in Provo as well as Kalamazoo right now.

If you want to save naive people from loosing money flag any posts that appear malicious. Do your fellow man a favor.
