I have a new phone
And when texting
All these typos, misspelled words
No longer get caught
Ideas? Is it a setting?

Normally, yes- settings. Have you tried looking up your brand and the manual?

Check to see what your phone is using to Web Search. Commonly, spellcheck provided by that software. And, as noted above, check that softwares preferences and turn-on Auto Spell.

Try, general—>keyboard—->autocorrection
In trying to follow your advice, I found i hadn't chosen English in my auto correct!!! I'm so hopeful my posts will look like an adult wrote them now

Laura, I am hoping you see this, it’s about your spell checker dilemma! In your writings, it appears your phone has learned from your mistakes! The wrong way! The program is teachable, following your style and unique words!
This may work for your phone!
"Whenever you autocorrect tells you to misspell something, tap on the suggested word and drag it upward. A trashcan icon will appear at this point. Just continue to drag the offending word over to the trash can icon and release it. That word will be deleted and will never come back...unless you teach your autocorrect that word again."
Or:
Go back into the settings where you found the language settings for your dictionary. In there, you will find settings for editing it!

A diversion, a common hack of mine was to screw with certain coworker’s IT devices! More than once, they got nailed for sending offensive texts! It was a tight, small group, and the manager would always ask them if they had recently been near me!
