How can you tell if you have a purebred subspecies or a cross? (not that it matters, im not planning on breeding) The breeder says hers are pure SI but didnt seem to have strong knowledge about their lineage. One of her males has a red spot on his chest--just curious.

Reputable breeders 'usually' keep impeccable track of their breeding stock, and would certainly know what subspecies of ekkis they are pairing up.
Unfortunately ekkis breed fairly easy, and there are already an enormous amount of crosses that were sold as something they were not. It's not always easy to tell the difference between certain Eclectus subspecies, which often adds to the confusion.
