Yes, I’ve been a bird owner since I was 8 years old.
Yesterday was one of the worst days of my families lives. Our beloved 32 years old Macaw Max had a seizure and passed away. He was a very healthy bird and until that moment, had never had any issues.
My husband and I thought he would grow old with us and we are devasted.
To make our day even worse, our beloved 2 years old conure Jewel which was Max’s partner in crime but had her own cage, said her goodbyes to him and 30 minutes later started gasping for air, bobbing her head and being lethargic. We held her, she then had a seizure and passed away.
I’ve been raising birds for over 40 years and it’s the first time in my life that something like this happen. We had to bury our two beloved birds on the same day, together, as they spent their last 2 years.

Welcome to the forums, @mlacerda, but I'm so terribly sorry for your devastating losses! Losing one is hard enough, but two, I can hardly imagine your pain. I've moved your post to our "Bereavement" sub-forum, as this is a more fitting spot for your tribute to Max and Jewel. Please accept my most heartfelt condolences, my heart truly goes out to you 🙏

Thank you, it was my first time in this forum so I wasn’t sure where to post.

Friend, what a horrible way to join our Forum! I feel your pain intensely, as do many on here, having lost treasured parrots too. I know I cried, tough guy that I am, for days.

Please do a thorough check of your house for contaminates and other conditions that might be the cause of death, because its very, very unusual for 2 different parrots to pass away within minutes of each other from natural causes!

Again, you have my heartfelt sorrow on their passing.

My most heartfelt condolances.

My deepest condolences! Those are beautiful photos of Max. He was clearly very, very loved. I wish you peace and plenty of good memories. 💔

Oh Maaaaan. That's rough :( Losing two fids in such a short period of time! I send my deepest sympathies. **Hugs** They were clearly loved!

I'm SO sorry for your losses! It's heartbreaking to lose one- to lose two so quickly must be just awful. Give yourself time to grieve. It will take time and it gets easier but your beloved birds will be sorely missed forever.

How devastating! I cannot even begin to understand the pain of losing both of your parrots on the same day! 💔

Maybe this is the bird version of when one person dies their partner is so overcome with grief they will themselves to die from a broken heart, but it is much more likely that there is something in their environment that has caused 2 deaths from sudden seizures in a single day. Could be air, water, food, plants, toys, cage, etc.

Growing up, my family had saltwater aquariums. One day all the fish were dead. It was caused by a no-pest strip hung in a distant room.

It could be something like pesticide sprayed outside your house which somehow entered the air inside your home. Or maybe a new sofa with chemical off-gassing.

So sorry for your loss
