So this morning the bf and I went to the Golden Cockatoo to meet the Yellow Crowned Amazon I fell in love with. We showed up with a bunch of things that we had purchased for the Jardine's but would be too small if we took home the Amazon.
We got to the store and one of the employees took him out for us - he went willingly to the bf and said "Hello!". He was a chatty Cathy, especially to my bf. We were able to hold him and spend some time with him. The bf was impressed with how sweet he was, and we decided to take him home!
We were prepared to buy a new cage, but didn't know exactly what we would go home with, just that it had to be bigger than the 24" HQ that we have at home (that was intended for the Jardine's). I had assumed that we would take home the 32" HQ cage, around 300-350$. To my surprise, the bf decided that we should take home the King's aluminum cage instead. It's not as tall as the HQ dometop, but it's plenty wide. I'd always wanted a King's Cage but I had never thought that I'd ever have one as they are so expensive. The travel cage that we had purchased for the Jardine's is the King's cage aluminum travel carrier and I'd been quite impressed with the construction...so...without further ado..

The bf really liked the idea of the playtop, so we can have a playstand in the living room as well as one in the computer room. He's also 6'3", so no problems getting the BGG off of the playstand. Me...I'll need a stepstool!
Here are some more photos of the new guy at home...

Since he's been home, he's been chatty and content to chew on a toy and test the cage out.
We've had him on the bottlebrush playstand we purchased for him - the bf is able to pick him up easily.
We did choose to have a DNA test done on him even though 3/3 employees at the store guessed that he is a male. We're going with the male thing and have decided to name him Banner, after Bruce Banner from the incredible hulk. He weighs a little more than a pound!
I'd like to thank everyone for their advice over the past few days. It has really helped!
