Well, the last of my rescues from "the old days" is gone. My beautiful, sweet Albino Cockatiel, Angel, died last night. I had him for about 17 years. He was adult when he came to me, so, we're not sure how old he was. Just 2 weeks ago, my other birds from back then, 2 budgies named George & Gracie, both died within hours of each other. They were a M/F pair that I adopted together, and for some reason, never bred. I had them about 10 years. She died first, and he stood over her body for some time, and wouldn't let me take her away. Of course, eventually I did, and he was dead by that night. They were inseperable and I know that he just couldn't live without her. So, since I re-homed the finches, and the pineapple conure that I was rehabilitating, my flock is now down to 1 cockatiel, 1 lovebird, 1 parrotlet, and 3 budgies. All under 3 years old. I've repeatedly promised my wife to cut down on taking in new birds, but, birds in need seem to find me. I just turned down an Umbrella Cockatoo because I don't have room, or time, that that baby needs. So, we'll see what happens. Fly free, my beautiful babies! I'll hold you all in my heart until I can hold you again in heaven.

Im so very sorry to hear this :-( *hugs*

I'm so sorry to hear about your losses, Bill. I'll be thinking of you.

Sorry for your losses, thinking of you. x

So sad, I'm sure they are grateful for your care. You'll see them @ the Bridge!

Im so sorry for your losses!
Thats so sweet that they loved each other that much though.

Thank you all so much. They were very special birds. Angel was one of my best therapy birds. He was so well behaved and friendly. Everyone loved him, and he loved everyone. Being so white, when he raised his wings, he DID look like an angel. And everyone who met him thought he was an angel put here on earth. And, George & Gracie were a special pair of budgies. They were inseperable, and wherever one went, the other soon followed. Whatever one did, the other also did. I would take one out, and put it on my shoulder. The other one would be scurrying to get beside its mate. They were so comical to watch. They talked a little, and constantly spoke to each other, both in english & parakeet. For some reason, they never bred, even though they were always together, preened & fed each other, and had been given a nest box, a nest basket, and nesting materials. Anyway, thanks again for your kind thoughts. They have left a big hole in my heart. Right where all the others have also done so. And, as all of us foster parronts know, (don't remind my wife), that only leaves a space for another! Until there's none, rescue one!

Oh Bill I am so so sorry for your loss, I can't stop crying..........
You have been through so much, with so many birds, I feel your pain and sadness.
Rest assure.....you gave them a wonderful home, filled with so much love
Memories will be with you forever
Fly free little ones

Awww , I'm sorry Bill.

Thank you all. There have been so many birds pass through my life that I believe there is an entire tree on the other side of that Rainbow Bridge filled with birds waiting for me. Between my own pets, my rescues, my fosters, and just others that I have helped along their way. It would be a glorious reunion!

I'm so sorry for your loss. You should at least take some comfort in that these birds at least were in a very loving and capable home for the remainder of their lives. So very sorry. :(

I am so sorry to hear, Bill. All these birds were lucky to find you. And the image of that tree over the rainbow bridge . . . it comforts me, too.

I recently lost my first parrot & while I hadn't had him nearly that long, until he was gone, I didn't realize how the loss of such a tiny bundle of feathers could create such a big hole in my world!

Ohhh, so sorry for your loss's. You sound like an amazing person with enough room in your heart to take on another special spirit that needs you.

It really leaves a hole in your heart when your long time or short time feathered companion crosses the bridge. I share in your sadness.
