The third test came back negative?!

I wonder if you could get some blood from a nail clipping?
Here is a youtube video about it:

I hate to say this but at this point it sounds like someone needs to be sued....

Also what Terry mentions above is VERY easy to do

You just wrap the bird up in a towel, one person holds the bird and the other does the clipping
My way of doing it is just clip very small amounts (like 1/16 of an inch at a time) till you get blood
Then have the test strips ready and do a bunch of them (everyone you do can be another test)

I didn't even need the styptic stick (had one at the ready though)
I just held a piece of sterile gauze on the nail for a minute and it stopped bleeding

Make sure you are CLEAN before touching EVERYTHING

VERY Sorry you are going through this BUT keep in mind that mental torture is better than a test really being positive!!

I couldnt agree more Joe! I just want him to be OK.

Right now I am dealing with the fact that he is simultaneously needy, and angry with me. He wants to be held and cuddled so badly, and I'll pick him up, only to have him bite me.

That's even more torture for you, how about giving him is favorite food while talking to him over and over, and then see if he wants to come to you eventually?

Stay Strong, at least things may not be as bad as we thought !!

Have you thought about using a training perch to stop the biting?

We have training perches. I'll train him, and when I go to give him his reward, he will lift his foot like "Mommy pick me up!" and if I do, he bends over to chew on the fingers of the hand he's on. Then he wants to be hugged, up against me, which I always do, but now, he pinches the skin on my neck, or chest. It's like he's conflicted. He wants to be right up against me, but he's compelled to gnaw on me....and he's started screaming bloody murder if he doesn't get his way. He will have like a little 5second mini-fit if I put him back on his perch.

Just a thought, is he "biting you", or is this possibly something else?

Like for example, very rarely when he was upset about something my Poe would kind of walk around Beak-ing things

Is he biting in one place or kind of nipping over and over?

I went back and saw that you got him as a baby, so I guess he has always been a cuddle bug?

Don't worry, time will fix this problem!!

Joe

He gnaws. I don't equate it as aggression, but maybe I'm wrong. It's almost puppy- like. He wants me to rough him up or something. Hes always been a little like that, but now it seems like he's frustrated as well.

Hmm, too bad you don't have a video of it for some of the more expert bird people around here to comment on

It sounds like the whole thing really got to him

What is your plan from this point forward with the whole testing thing?

Did you see everyone on the other thread asking what was your 4th bird?
(or something like that)

Joe

I did not see that... Going to look now.

False negatives and false positives do both happen, and as far as I know does not necessarily reflect upon the lab work itself. Further testing should make it easier to rule out which one this is. :)

Sorry. No cause of action that the courts are likely to recognize, and without substantial damages, no one would take that case.

The Courts cannot solve everything. This is one of them.

(Did I mention I spent the last 27 years working for a law firm?)

Sadly, our pets are no better than "property" rights. The remedy is what ever "replacement" value would be.

You can't replace the bond.

Insert quote from Iron Man II here: "That's not my bird!"

Sorry you're going through this. Like I said earlier, my hands would be in a more or less permanent choking position at this point...

Must resist the urge to choke... even though he deserves it.

Has there been any word from the vet after the weekend? I'm just hoping for a positive outcome for all your birds at this point, vet/lab screw up or no.

From what I've read and heard from vets about PBFD (and other virus) that chances are more likely that the virus has gone into REMISSION in the body, and therefore COULD NOT BE DETECTED at the time of the last test.

Hate to say, but that is probably more likely the case than a lab screw up (twice no less)... I sincerely wish you all the best Michele regardless.
