Parrots
Double Yellow Amazon
So I got home from work, let Pedro, my Yellow Headed Amazon, out of his cage and started whipping up some Hot Chocolate (it's snowing and cold here in Colorado) as soon as I started to stir the chocolate into the milk Pedro appeared on my shoulder pecking at my ear demanding his share!

He actually parrots the sound of the stirring (took me awhile to figure that out) I let him dip his beak a few times and...

Same thing every morning as I make my Café Mocha. He'll fly over sit on my shoulder peck at my ear until I let him dip his beak a couple times.

Another of Pedro's favorites is my Fruit Smoothie, Bananas Pineapple a Tropical mix etcetera. I generally let him have his fill. BUT!!! As a word of warning the fructose (sugar) has the same affect on an adolescent amazon as it does on and adolescent human. Be prepared to wrestle and joust for an hour or so....%^):green1::yellow2:

Zilla Loves anything baked and always wants her share!

Or any chips I might be trying to eat...

Kiki, Kiwi and Taco love Chillis since they take long to eat, They are a great source of vitamin C and A, which is VERY important to them.

They love apples, peaches, and lots of other fruits and vegetables. But what I found they love the most, especially Kiki, is bananas cut into pieces for her size. :)

Kiwi loves tortillas, broccoli, pomegranates, pasta, bananas, cashews, cheese.... Actually, theres very little he doesn't like:) Parrots eat a lot of fruit in the jungle, and are quite ok to consume lots of it IMO. Kiwi gets his fruit in the morning so he's full of energy for the day, and his veggies at night so he is not wired come bed time;)

I wouldn't personally allow a bird to have any chocolate or caffeinated beverages like tea or coffee, even just a little sip. Those are know to be toxic to parrots and while not acutely toxic, who knows what the long term affects would be. Smoothies (without refined sugar) are fine to share though:)

Knowing what Zillas kidney function is after being fed coffee, soda and fast foods for however long I wouldn't advise giving any of it even in small amounts. Just my opinion, but I am caring for a parrot who was given those things and I have seen first hand what they have done to her.

Everyone's all time FAVORITE thing to eat is... believe it or not, Harrison's pellets. Raven literally runs to a freshly filled Harrision's bowl. They also freak out and get overly excited for treats such as Nutriberries and safflower seeds.

My galah loves cashew nuts. And she's interested in anything that I've got. "Hello" doesn't mean what it means for us, it means "I'm here, can I have some of that?"

One of my budgies is very keen on curly endive.

My scarlet chested parakeets love any small seed, especially millet. They also really enjoy broccoli, snow peas and corn.

My gcc Peep loves, love, loves strawberries with a passion! What a mess he makes!

Side note, I've heard some birds love quinoa...might have to try that.

My birds LOVE poms. Most also love quinoa, even the little guys:)

My male quaker LOVES sugar snap peas, he'll trade kisses for them and squeal between bites. My girl quaker is very fond of pumpkin seeds. My budgies like kale. Poppy likes anything she can talk a human into sharing with her.

Oh, lucky bird owners... The only thing my birds really love is SEED! (they almost don't get it anymore) maybe some apples and broccolini too. :)

They all love wheat sprouts. The budgies are partial to corn in the cob and rehydrated dried fig. Conure is wild about pine nuts, wheat sprouts, and rehydrated dried fig. :).....and Greek yogurt. And veggie pasta (rotini).

While making homade cranberry sauce for Thanksgiving, Doodle came off her perch and walked across the counter to get the berries left on the board! Thats all she wrote, she even SEES the bag of crans she gets excited. Pecans are #2.

My Bosley loves meat, beef in particular. He also loves any veggie or meat in a cocunut milk thai sauce. It was the ticket to go him eating his veggies.

Oh yeah I didn't mention Pomegranate, Tortillas and Pedro loves salsa and jalapeño type spice. But to see him go after Pomegranate...

(One note this is a light topic let's keep it that way let's not pontificate...)
