A few months ago, we took in 2 rescued conures (we have been taking in rescue birds for several years, mostly budgies and cockatiels). One of them, whose name is Sev, is extremely timid (he does hang out with me, steps up, and even preens my hair), which we are working on, but for some reason he seems to live in fear of my teenage daughter and my wife, to the point where he feels the need to attack and will even get so flustered with them around that he has attacked me. From what I can tell, this is not normal for these birds, and since he and the other bird came from the same home, I'm having trouble figuring out how best to help him. Right now we are trying to find him a home with a single-male owner (we are re-homing all rescues right now due to medical issues) but that really limits options for him and I want him to have a better life than what he has now. When he came to us, both birds had been bullied by some larger parrots at another rescue and he had a bit of a head injury and a movement tic; the injury is now healed and the tic is gone, and I don't know if it's possible that he has some issue from that. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
