I don't ever use the food and water dishes that come with a cage and I usually don't even use the perches.

Don't show that palace to Gilbert or he will be jealous!! My lightweight one has worked out ok for me, always travelling with three dogs, their supplies and Gilbert with his stuff. Maybe some day we will upgrade Gilbert's cage with this one because it is really nice.
