Update with a long story:' https://www.parrotforums.com/threads/feathered-hello-from-savannah-meet-my-birds.99557/post-1060504

Hello! I am Ayden!

My partner and I have 6 birds currently and honestly we may get more at some point. Nothing beats the sound of happy bird chirps and watching them fly around and give us their attention. Chop time is their favorite time since they love their greens.

We have 4 budgies, 1 cockatiel, and 1 ringneck. For the budgies I am trying to name their mutations if anyone is willing to help. I have some guesses from researching. Anyways let me toss my babies in here and introduce them and all their glory.

As a note; 4 of them are clipped. I did not have the choice as we got them that way. We're going to let their wings grow back. Just so you're aware!

Fuyumi (Yumi) - She is the light blue budgie with what I think is Opaline and Cinnamon. She is usually sweet and loves singing at me, but she enjoys picking on the boys.
Keigo - He is the darker blue budgie with Peid. He was so scared when we got him because of the torment he went through before us, but now he's a daring, charming, kind soul who comes to me when he wants help.
Eda - She is the dark olive budgie, and one of our newest along with Raine. She's so sweet, but she doesn't trust us yet. She wants to, tho, so she is trying.
Raine - He is our other new budgie. He is the seafoam one with graywing. He is a total diva, and even if he doesn't trust us yet he is definately the star of the chorus.
Froppy - She is a baby, lime green ringneck. She's silly but she loves her daily veggies so much she is upset when I didn't prepare them on time.
Touya - My Special Boy. The Lutino cockatiel. I am training him to be able to go out everywhere with me. He can't be a second without me, and I'm just as clingy as he is. He is my happy baby boy.

Welcome to the forums!

What a lovely flock you have!

Here’s a website that I’ve found helpful for guessing a budgies color mutations:

I’ll also tag a member who I’ve seen identify color mutations
@Keet_Krazy

Welcome to the forums to you and your fabulous flock! @Rozalka is another who may be able to help identify mutations, I've always been pretty lousy at it myself. I'm so happy to have you all aboard here! 😍

Hello! I'll try my best with my slow brain today! I was having a look at your babies yesterday, but some of the pictures aren't the clearest.
What colour is Eda's tail?
Fuyumi does look cinnamon and Opaline, is she also pied? Do you have a picture of her front on?
Raine does look greywing and yellowface/golden face, sorry I don't/can't really Id which.
Keigo is recessive pied. Do you have any more pictures? In some it looks cobalt, in other much darker. If possible can you include one of his back too please (without his head in the way)?

Welcome to the forums!
I looked mostly on Eda's pics because I thought my Romek was olive and your budgie is darker green than him. I've been thinking - maybe she is some kind of combination? Something like violet-olive? But honestly I started viewing olive budgies pics and now I have doubts again what mutation my budgie was... I'm not the best in it

I get that! I tried to look it up myself and I suspected the regular olive, but she is weirdly darker than what I keep finding.

To guess Eda's colour need to know the colour of her tail. Blue tail = Olive green, Black tail = GreyGreen. (The cheek patches can also be used)

You are a blessing, thank you! I can get better pictures soon with some nice lighting so you can see it better from the angles.

Edas tail is like a black/blue, it's not as vibrant as the blue tone on some genetics guide and is pretty dull. Same for her cheek patches. I need some good photos of her tail, once some good sunlight comes in.

Fuyumi I don't think has peid, but these are the best photos I have on hand. I can get more soon, I just took these at the breeders place before I took her home.

For keigo I agree, he is sometimes darker than Mauve on the guides, but vibrant still. Here are some of Keigo too, he's so quirky.

Here is a good light for Eda! I noticed on the green near her tail before it becomes blue/dark, it gets like an emerald color green.

Your beautiful budgies all look like very young birds that haven't gone through their first molt yet. It usually happens at about four months old and after the molt they will lose the bars on their lower forehead. How long have you had them?

They are young, yes!
Keigo we have had for three? months now. Maybe 4? Fuyumi has been here about a month officially, but I had been seeing her every day until she was ready to come home. The two newest are Eda and Raine, but they were rehomes since the previous owners didn't want to care for them anymore. They told me Rain was 14 months and Eda was 4 months.

I was thinking that Raine was the only "adult" in your adorable flock. You may be mistaken on the sex of your youngest budgies. If the recessive pied, Keigo, is a male his cere will remain a light pinkish purple for life. If Keigo is a female her cere will be light bluish white to tan to brown when she's sexually mature. The olive green budgie may also be a male. If so, his cere will get more and more blue over the next couple months. Watch the cere on the opaline cinnamon budgie (I have a female this exact same color!). If it starts getting more blue it's a boy. They are all beautiful budgies and your cockatiel and ringneck are lovely too!

Thank you! I will keep my eyes on them for sure. Our avian vet + former owners/breeders said they think their sex is what I have listed, but aren't sure. My partner was curious if the pretty olive-colored one was really a male, so we'll see! I'll def post updates as they come. I appreciate the in depth color explanation.

Thank you! I love them all. I know they're all new/ish to the family, but I've been putting a lot of love into them and they already give it back. I didn't pick them, they picked me!

I think Eda is Olive green, black tail are very black generally.
Keigo is possibly Opaline, I actually did suspect Keigo was a girl and I still believe that.
You are right that Fuyumi doesn't look pied, the first picture was just tricking me with light I think (and those tail feathers are suspicious...)

Shamelessly I made some budgie lines to color budgies in, and using Raine as my test runner. It's a work in progress, still coloring xD but he's so cute

This is Lilibelle, my opaline cinnamon girl English Budgie. She's the mother of Rocky, a baby I hand fed from hatching six months ago because Lilibelle had a medical emergency and couldn't. Opaline cinnamons are not very common so its nice to see another one.

What an adorable flock! I'm a sucker for cockatiels, LOL! I'm glad you're getting help finding the mutations of your budgies. I SUCK at budgie mutations and gladly read up on what folks post!

Welcome! Your flock is lovely! I love your description of your special boy Touya.

That cockatiel is one of a kind.

I'd love to have one of those as a friend.
And a few quakers...
