Very worried!! Freaking out here!!

He went from 90 grams to 96 grams today.

I feel really bad for him he just slipped off the cage and hit himself really hard as he almost did backroll and landed wrong. He was crying and screeching in pain holding his wing up.

He seems fine now. I cannot wait for his wings to grow back. My other tiel is not clipped....entire house is bird proofed.

He is eating at least and gaining some weight back. He is such a sweet bird felt so bad :(

He is about 3 months. .. how long approx for flight feathers to start coming back on a baby bird? My tiel has pretty much always been fully flighted so I don't recall how long the wait is...

I'll be interested to hear what people say...

RB moults twice a year... December-ish: body feathers, head only.
June-ish... ALL feathers - tail, wings, body, head.

I can't recall much about what his moult was like when I got him. He was about 3 months old, and halfway into his "big boy" feathers...

His regular food has sunflower seeds in it... there is nothing wrong with sunflower seeds. They are an excellent source of essential amino acids etc and most certainly does NOT cause liver damage. It is quite the contrary. What causes these problems is a FAT bird!! At which point it is not only liver problems to be concerned with. Again, he is not ONLY eating sunflower seeds nor is he eating sunflower seeds excessively nor is he even remotely close to being anywhere near obese.

WHOLE FOODS PLANT BASED vegan here.... I'm fully aware and very educated on what is healthy and what is not... what foods cause disease not only in humans but it also applies to my tiel.

Firstly for the benefit for all reading this Are Sunflower Seeds Bad for Parrots | The Adventures of Kacy The Conure Parrot ? Bryan's Angels.

Sunflower seeds do provide good nutrition as seen above but the down side is they are also high in fat. Wild birds can deal with this because they have to fly many miles in search of food, birds in homes do not and cannot replicate that amount of exercise, so are prone to put on FAT if not watched closely. I am not/was not saying he is obese, gosh he is still a dear little baby but now is the time to think about these things as they are hard to undo further down the line.

You gave me the impression that you were going to feed Sunflower seeds (more than normal) to make up Coconut's weight loss which concerned me and I quote:-

"therefore he is most certainly being encouraged to eat more sunflower seeds for the time being"

To me it is not just about shoving the weight back up.

I am sorry that you took my comments poorly as there was no malice intended. You give the impression that you have everything under control  and do not need any further input from me. I will leave you with a little more light reading also.

Rascal's foods barely has any sunflower seeds in it at all. He won't even touch the sunflower seeds in Coconut's food because he is not used to it. The food the breeder told me to get has lots more sunflower seeds in it than Rascal's food... I bought all of the below pictured and mix them together as the breeder told me "that is what he is used to eating"... and Coconut does PIG out on that food and would not touch Rascal's food. There is NOTHING wrong with a tiel eating more sunflower seeds than usual for a few days... and again, nor is he eating sunflower seeds excessively. I'm very aware of what you are saying.

Coconut will gradually start eating what Rascal does as I prefer to feed my tiel ORGANIC foods (that are homemade by a couple I know who reside in CT who own a bird rescue sanctuary) that is pesticide and GMO free (hardcore GMO activist here) nor am I "impressed" with the below pictured mass factory produced foods for a myriad of reasons. I am ready to change the subject. :)
