- Have a beautiful male eclectus parrot that is 16 months old. wanting to introduce a blue and gold macaw
hello everyone! This is my first post so hopefully i remember to include as much info as possible.
So! Ive got an eclectus parrot, hes a male, and hes about 16 months old. His name is max. He's absolutely beautiful and such a sweet heart. Hes been around cats before, which he is not scared of, hes happy to look at them, and actually sits on their bellys as your holding them, but is known to get a little jealous if he spots you with the cat, without him! The cats live at my parents place so he only see's them occasionally. Where i am currently living, we have a hugeee dog. Hes not scared of him, just a little intimidated by the size. The dog is harmless, they've only really been loose in the same room together when the dog accidentally got in the house while max was out of his cage. The dog chased max around abit, max was flying down at the pup going along with it, while we were trying to contain the dog. Max accidentally went to fly ontop of the door which we actually had shut, so he fell down onto the floor, and the dog just started to sniff him. Max just growled and waited for us to get him. Anyway! So the animals he has had experiences with, generally go pretty well.
Im heading overseas next year, and while im away my parents will be taking care of ,ax at their place, max adores them, and they adore max. But when i get back, im planning to settle down and I'd like to get a macaw. Ive done alot of research, and i know I'd absolutely love it. The only thing ive found very limited info on is how will max and the macaw get along? And introducing them properly. I want them both to be happy amd comfortable in their own environment, and get along as pals too. Has anyone previously done this or have any info on introducing them and helping them get along?
Alsooo when i get back, im not planning to get another bird until im in a new place, which means it will be a new place for max to, so hoping that will help with any territorial issues. Thanks soooo much looking foward to hearing back from you!!!!
