We found a sun conure!!!

Wow that is incredible that he just flew in to your house! He picked the right house! It sounds like you are doing a great job taking care of him and trying to find his home! Poor little guy must be scared!

You are a magnet to Suns !! I'm glad he chose you though , at least he will get a much needed meal , safe haven and love until his home is found :)

I'd love to adopt it but know my dad would be angry with a bird that actually bit him on purpose and I'm unsure if I would have the time for the poor thing. I can offer plenty of love and space to fly and play as well as a sort of friend to chat with while I'm gone. If I had my own house, I'd just pay for you to send it to me. I really want to start helping birds that are put in this position. I'm happy you're trying so hard to give it a good home :)

If you are considering helping out rescue birds, we are currently trying to gain funds for rescuing 8 parrots in FL. Please consider donating to our chip in account. it can be found on the topic: Funding for FL rescue. We are all scrambling for the means to help them Please spread the word.

We went to the vet this morning and besides being a little underweight he checked out just fine. they did a blood sample for free since I sorta rescued him and we are waiting on results from that. the little guys personality is showing. Since he is in a small cage and I dont want to put him in the birdroom till I know he is a-ok I let him out last night to fly around in my room. He landed next to me and said "up up" and put his foot up. So I put my finger down and he stepped up. I have to admit I was scared to death because he BITES a lot, but he did not bite me. The rest of the night he walken around talking to himself. He still screams for more than half the day, to the point where his voice cracks. ugh. So Clifford screams right back. I think they are calling each other.
Till this morning I was still telling myself that I cannot keep this bird, I just cannot handle two screaming conures....
But then he started singing "row row row your boat" and dancing, when I laughed at him he said "ha ha funny guy". Im pretty sure hes a he now, and now if I dont find the owner I have a BIG decision to make. Hes a talker! and very funny.
As far as the post on 4/9 goes, no response and it has been deleted. :-( I have had a couple of calls from parrot alert, but no luck....I'll keep everyne posted

I'm wondering if the screaming is a result of his being alone for so long? He's possibly scared about losing the only friendly people he's met in a while. And it sounds like, at some point, he had a really good owner. Bad owners don't tell their birds that they're "funny guys" or sing to them enough that they learn a song. I'm really wondering what happened to him now :( Maybe he was rehomed for financial reasons or such and his new owner abandoned him? That would definitely explain the screaming. Or something tragic happened and he found himself in a new situation that wasn't good? Something happened to this bird, that's obvious. But it also sounds like he has had good owners in his past.

I know and it just breaks my heart to pieces. I cried myself to sleep last night because I am so torn. Poor baby just wants someone to love him. I just dont know if I have enough love to go around :-( Like I said i will diligently work to find his owners...Hopefully I do because I dont want to have to make the decision to keep him or not. sigh. He is a brilliant boy!

why do I have a feeling deep down you have almost all ready decided. I wonder if the screaming would slow down oncce he and clifford get used to each other and can be in the same room. you.re really going to have your hands full with your new baby coming friday. Alison and sweetie pie:D

I would save every birdie in the whole wide world if I could. I really would. It isnt just the screaming, its the new baby, the other birds, and Cliffird's issues, which take a lot of time to work through. Its the addtl vet bills and cage and food and toys and stuff. I have a budget every week for the other fids, and a small savings in case of emergencys, but this was un-expected and I do not have the funds to buy another cage and toys etc right now.....I have 2 jobs, I am a bartender for my second job so I can get him things one at a time, but I'm worried that it would be taking on too much. idk, i just dont know

I can really sympathize with how your feeling and you have to do whats best for your familly. Hopefully the owner will show up . did the vet have any idea about how long he has been on his own? Alison and sweetie pie:D

We recently rescued a sweet little nanday and ive posted an ad on craigslist to find him a good home. Im not asking a fee. But anyone who responds has been given a LONG list of questions to answer. From there ive narrowed it down to 2 potentials. Its worked out a lot better than i expected. Both homes are willing to email me updates, know his diet and have cages ready for him. :-) its something to think on.

Wow, hope you find his owners. Someone I'm sure is missing him. Maybe hes just biting because hes nervous in a new environment. That might make him scream more to. Its strange how things just fall into our laps sometimes. He was definitely meant to find you. Its so nice of you to take him in and help him. :D

IM SO AFRAID OF CRAIG'S LIST. I see the birds that are up for adoption on there everynight in my nightmares :-( I'm afraid that someone will falsley represent themselves and he will not have a good home.....I'm too scared to do that :(

I would stay away from craigslist. It may just take a while before the owners are found. Maybe they are on vacation and don't know what happened yet. I'd give it a few weeks.

So visit their home. See their current birds and pets. You can always use these forums and others to find a home. If you really dont have the time or money for him, its not fair to keep him out of fear.

I got an e-mai....
Please God tell me this is not real! Please....

AND IT MAY BE A GOOD THING I CANT RESPOND!
Im completley devistated and cannot stop crying.

Holy crap! thats horrible! Then thats good that u have him! poor guy! i would love to take him but i live in New Mexico!:( at least now he'll find a new loving forever home.

I have absolutly no idea what that means but I would not answer that post or that link. Do you have any companion bird clubs around you like they do in Florida? Also is the sun conure missing a toe? that is a pretty specific idendity mark I would think. THat post makes me sick. There is no excuse for animal abuse. Alison and sweetie pie:D
