We found a sun conure!!!

I might have an unusual situation, but my Grey "Peppers" gets along with all my other parrots. She is cute though, if Sunny (Sun Conure) gets on her cage she will tell her "NO, NO, BAD GIRL". She knows that they are not allowed on her cage. That is her space. But of course you do have to be careful about having them around each other. But I am lucky that mine get along.

Check this link out. Its a grey and a sun and photos that show their interaction with each other. I found it a long time ago. it is really cute :-)

what neat pictures. My guess is those parrots have never been bored in their life with all those toys and climbing areas. wow Alison and sweetie pie:D

Thanks for sharing Cliffordsmom! That is so adorable! You can tell they are just best friends.

Your welcome. Its inspiration to me, this is the relationship i hope to acheive with my babies. :-)

You probably have a good chance where your Grey is just a baby! He will grow up around the others.

Kath: I talked to many bird people about the two birds I had and what was happening. People here, breeders, avian vet and all said conures as a species are better off with other conures. I do not think it was that particular bird. No offense taken at all.

How is Guy doing today?

How is Guy doing today?
Sigh, hes ok. He was wuiet for a while when we moved him to the big cage. But now he is even louder than he was. throwing his food and screaming and shaking the cage, throwing his toys. hes a mess. poor thing.

You know, Loki was only a step or two below that shortly after we brought him home. He'd had a questionable background as well and for a bit there, I thought Hubs was going to have me find him a new home :( But we powered through it, reminding ourselves that we made a commitment to him for better or worse. I realize you haven't made a commitment (yet) but know that we're all here for you as moral support, no matter what you decide to do for him.

There is a lady that works in the dame building with me that has an ekkie and an umberlla 2. She is thinking about it. It would be a really nice home for him and she only works 22 hours a week. She is obviously not bothered by noise with and ekkie and a too, I would just like to go and visit her first....we will see. lots of ppl want him, but he cannot go to just anyone.

I agree, that if they have a U2, they can't possibly be bothered by noise, lol!! My friend with a U2 and Moluccan (not to mention a very quiet Senegal) is even bothered by their noise at times; "I don't believe I invited you in to this conversation boys!" is a regular line ;)

I think that your coworker is probably a good candidate, but I also agree that visiting her home is a good idea, just to at least get an idea of how her current birds are. I hope it works out!

Do you have any hair left?I'm sure you are ready to puul it out at the moment. would a radio near his cage with some music playing help? How is your new bird room coming? Bongo comes tomorrow? Hang in there. sending hugs your way. Alison and sweetie pie:D

Ugh... I can't believe the owners said "i guess he is a bird can make it in the wild right?"

I admit, sometimes I feel like a terrible bird owner, even after all of the toys, the big cage, the nice food, and vet care.... but at least I'm better than THAT.

Guy may seem unhappy, but I'm really glad he didn't starve to death alone outside. Just because he bites and screams doesn't mean he deserves to suffer. Thank you for taking care of him!

Hair yes, tylenol, no, i ate it all. He has a radio, i put a cd of toddler song on it that had "row row row your boat" he likes that song a lot. He really is so stinking cute. grr. Bird room is coming great!!! Clifford is all over the place in there and not a peep from him when he is exploring around! It is good for him to be able to play so much. I still have a few things to add before pictures...Bongo wont be coming home till saturday because i have to work both of my jobs tomorrow. I dont want to go get her and take her home then leave :-( So i will have all weekend with her if i pick her up saturday!! I CANT WAIT!!!
thanks for the hugs, this is a stressful time, but I am glad I can help little guy. :-) Makes me feel good to know we were the home he chose to fly to and we will be the ones who decide who will be his permanant parronts!!

I really do think it was a child, and I can see the logic behind it. setting him free to take his chances was better than letting him get killed by an angry father. would have been a really tough decision for me...

the father is the one im angry at :-( i hope he never hurts his children. If i found out who he was and that he did, I dont know what I would do. I worry about them a lot and losing a lot of sleep over it. But I have to believe that things happen that are beyone my control and there is a reason for everything. at least the little girl can have some peace knowing someone cares about her Guy. :-( crying again. gaaaahhh

" What Katherine said. "

Do you have him in a small cage? My green cheek when I first got him hated the small cage I put him in because I was afraid he would fall. He would actually hang on the side with his body inside out. Feet and legs straight out behind him doing everything he could to get out. He would do somersaults while hanging onto the cage. I was terrified he would ruin him hips.
Just a thought anyway. Bless his heart. He probably just wants to be with people and can't because of the quarantine. Does he get quieter when you come near him?

No, hes in a big cage now. He has lots and lots of room, and no he is not quieter when we come near him we have to sing when coming around the corner so he does not freak out and when joe comes into the room he cowers down and goes to the bottom of his cage.
He keeps giving him sunflower seeds so he will hopefully understand that joe or i would NEVER hurt him, but i think its stuck in his mind that men are bad :-(

Such a sin for this bird to be so abused by anyone. Hopefully time will heal his wounds.
The past does not equal the future. A bird’s history is important, but not nearly as important as the present. The
events of today shape the rest of this bird’s life. Have faith he will come around when he feels safe.
