weird molting?? or is something wrong?

Attached is a picture of my male cockatiel, Keefe. Lately I noticed an odd, almost bald-looking patch around his eye, and a few days later i noticed that his other eye was starting to look the same. I don’t know what this could be and i’m worried it could be my fault as I’ve had some unexpected stress in my life lately and have not been able to devote nearly as much time to my birds as I should be, which i feel really awful about. I haven’t noticed any major changes in Keefe’s behavior, but again, i might have just missed them. Could he be sick? Is he just having a weird fall molt? Could he just be stressed since he’s spending more time in the cage than he’s used to?? Any suggestions and advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

None of us are really qualified to diagnose a health problem in birds. I would take him to an avian vet. I don't really see how neglecting him a bit could cause a bald area around his eye unless it's a dietary deficiency but even that diagnosis would need a avian vet. Eye problems can have many causes and require different treatments.

He's such a pretty cockatiel. I hope you get this figured out and start to give him more attention. Our birds need our love and attention to thrive!

I had this happen with a parakeet many, many years ago. It was a sinus infection. Go to the vet ASAP.
