Ok, this handsome fellow is the last flock member for a while lol (seriously)

His name is Admiral and he's THIRTY-TWO years old!! [emoji33][emoji41]

He's settling in nicely, and seems to be happy in his new surroundings --he greets us when we come in the house; he's a sweetheart but has his old-man cranky quirks lol.

His cage is smaller than what a 'tiel should normally have, simply because he's elderly and has arthritis so he doesn't move around much and he can't fly. I'm going to make some wooden flat perches for him and see if he likes them...

And Bandit has already said his "hello"s to Admiral~ but for the safety of tiny toes, Bandit was returned to his mansion.

And of course, chili is mad at me. Lol

Oh my word, he's so fluffy and sweet looking! Congratulations on your last addition :) I can only imagine how unimpressed Chili is, hahaha. But Bandit certainly seems excited to have a cockatiel friend [emoji5]️

Admiral looks like such a sweetie :). He sure doesn't look his age!

Oh, he's adorable! So fluffy! There has to be story there, 32 years?! Wow, I've never "met" a cockatiel that had attained that advanced of an age. That's incredible. Can't wait to hear more about him.

There he is! Welcome home, Admiral!! :smile015: What a super handsome man he is!!!! :D I can only hope to age this gracefully. :54:

Well, chili is only half-mad at me now lol

And bandit usually doesn't like other birds so I'm surprised he was so quick to check out Admiral and the new cage

I know he's going to turn into a sweetheart once he gets settled in -our house is very action-packed and busy lol

Yep, my friend adopted him from the lady that hatched him, and she had him for 32 years!!

You wouldn't guess that he's an old man lol bandit's been molting and he looks more disheveled!

He's 32? Wwwooowww!!!!! He is definitely the Admiral, lol.

We were discussing last night where we'd even fit another cage if we needed to LOL

I need a bigger house! [emoji51][/QUOTE]

:white1: Just hang the little ones from the ceiling:32:

I'm just astounded. I've heard over the years that cockatiels can live that long but never met one that actually did. What was his diet like in his previous home? I would love to have my smaller birds live to the far outside of their expected lifespan, too. I'm always curious about the husbandry of birds that do that (and, interestingly, it's not always the ones that have had "perfect" diets). I love that Admiral will have such a great home for the rest of his life. I'm looking forward to update posts about him.

Welcome Home Admiral!! He's such a handsome boy and I know he's going to love being a part of your family. Looks like he has a very nice view and a comfortable set up. I'm looking forward to seeing the custom perches you have in mind for him.

Congratulations Shirre (and Admiral) how awesome for you to get the privilege of caring for him in his "sunset" years!

Poor Chili, Mom brought another bird home!

Congratulations, Shirre! The Admiral does look quite at home, already! (Yup! He's "THE" Admiral to me. Any cockatiel who lives that long gets all due respect!)

He's really looking good! So tell, what are some of these "old man cranky quirks" of his?

32!! Thirty-two!!

Ahhhhh....Bless him...the Admiral!!

Toni

Love it, everyone is calling him "THE Admiral", lol. Well deserved!

He might be able to teach your youngin's something! :p

Very handsome!
